Hello,
I am a Canadian student studying at a Chinese high school( in mainland China).
I was born and mostly raised in China but I hold Canadian citizenship after living for about 5 years in Canada. I am applying for American universities this year. I feel that my ethics might be a little special so I put them up front:)

Okay, so this is my first post on cc~ Please help me get an idea of my chances of getting into universities in the States.Thank you.

I am a junior at a one of our city's top public high schools. I am also studying in the accelerated class (46 students in about 900). I have an average ranking of top 5%, gpa of about 90/100 and I take the most rigorous courses at our school( accelerated maths, physics, chemistry and biology). My sat1 is 680+760+750(2190). Toefl 30+29+30+30(118).I am taking my sat2 in June and expect a score of 2350+. Also, I am attending the stanford epgy summer institutes at beijing in july to study international relations. I have won first place in a school biology thesis contest and I have studied college level biology for about a year and a half in our school program. I have won first prize in the regional biology contest and have qualified for the national theoretical test as well. I am also an active English speech maker and have won regional and national prizes. So much for academics:)

About my ECs, I have focused on activities which practice leadership, problem solving and international perspective. Of my brag sheet, I value the YMP program and the Model United Nations most. The YMP program is an international joint program between Lund University in Sweden and the Educational Bureau in China. Our high school was one of its partner schools in mainland China. This program focused on sustainable development and covered a span of about two years. I led a project team in this program and conducted a long term study of the medical waste disposal system in our city. I devoted over 5 hrs each week in my first year to this program and around 10 hrs each week in the first few months of my second year. The project turned out to be a huge success and we've been invited to the Global Youth Environment Convention in Beijing this October. I've learned so much about leadership through this course, and I feel that my commitment really shows that I care about social and environmental problems.
As for the Model United Nations, this was also an activity that I started from my first year ang have carried all the way into my second year. I acted as Representative of China along with a senior student in our school's first MUN. Our team played wonderfully and eventually won best cooperation, best speech and most popularity prizes. After this first feat, I proceeded to join in the school MUN board as Secretary of Security Council. Together my friends and I pulled off the school's second and most influential MUN! We've achieved praises from school authorities and neighboring school MUNs. During both sessions of meetings, I devoted an average of 5 hr each week before meetings and around 10 hrs during meetings. We are currently recruiting new members for the next board. This has really been a start-from-scratch acheivement. I have immensely enchanced my sense of responsibility and awareness throughout these two years.

Finally, to top off, I played the piano for about 6 years and have exhibited my works of traditional painting in foreign countries. I also play table tennis and run track. I am also a registed volunteer worker in our city.

At the end of this account, I'd like to express my aspirations for university study in the US.
I hope to major in international business or any political-economical-international sort of major. I feel an education from the Ivies or from schools with strong economics majors would fit me best. Please chance me! Help me get an idea of my chances:)
