PLEASE HELP (this applies to you!)- sending a resume

if on my common app (sent out a long time ago) section i grossly overexaggerated my EC hours (b/c i didn't really count up my hours and just gave overestimates), can i send in a resume witht the right info...or just leave it?

if they see both and see the discrepancy (5hr -> 2 hour, and 12 hr -> 8hr), will they assume i'm being dishonest and auto-reject?

or will they know that i'm trying to correct the mistake and forgive me?

:(

Why not include a short, polite note that explains the mistake? That way, there won’t be any risk of confusion between the two resumes.

To whom it may concern,

I have attached a copy of my resume to replace the Extracurricular Activity list on the common application. I filled out the common application in a rather hurried manner, in a limited amount of time. As a result, I forgot to include several important activities, and also overestimated the time I spent in some of the activities.
To provide you with the correct information, I have made a resume that correctly documents in some detail my extracurricular interests and activities.
I sincerely apologize for the mistake, and hope that my resume can replace my common application Extracurricular Activity list in the admissions process.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your time!
