please help me!!!!!!!

If money is not a problem, pick USC. The area near USC is not horrendous, it's what LA city is like. My relative goes to USC for business conference all the time. She makes it home all right. USC is not too big, at least not for my daughter. UCLA is very big. USC is up and coming. BTW, what is your major?

USC is the obvious choice but it depends on the cost. 17K is a lot already for many people.

Wow 2 very different colleges, almost to extremes. USC is very diverse and USD is not at all. USD has smaller classes and more personalized attention but less variety and choice in many areas of classes. My daughter transferred from USD, was in the honors college but felt she was getting a narrow education and the lack of diversity in the student body and materialism got to her. I was surprised as her first impressions were very positive. She loved the area of course, you can't beat San Diego. That does make students not want to be on campus and there is not a close knit campus with much going on, everyone is out and about. many students choose to live off campus. There is a strict no alcohol policy on campus, they will come into freshman suites randomly so students leave the campus and drink off campus then drive back. There are free taxis but you can get written up if seen needing one. Maybe this changed over the past yr and a half. The money difference is substantial though so how important is that to your situation? Let us know what you choose. Good luck!

USC is not in a horrible area. The campus is not huge. It is small, compact, and immaculate.

Congratulations on the scholarship to USD first of all.

USC is not in a horrible neighborhood, if you actually visit the school and walk around you'll realize that rumor is just gross hyperbole.

Second, USC can seem big for some, 15,000 undergraduate students; however, thats not really that large compared to other schools. Additionally, USC goes to great lengths to make sure people aren't the "little fish in a big pond". Students have personal academic advisers, learning communities, hundreds of clubs and activities, many dorms have activities together, and the student/faculty ratio is one of the lowest in the area (especially compared to the UC's).

The area around USC is discussed every single year about this time. Visit the campus and the surrounding area and definitely check out the crime statistics for the surrounding area. The campus is fine, but the surrounding area is not. Visit, and decide for yourself.
