I am going to Pitt in the Fall and I have in the past logged on to my my.pitt account but I cannot anymore. I need to log on to take the Online Placement Exams and to see my schedule after I attend the PittStart session.

I have tracked back the original e-mail where they gave me my username and password and I was using the right one. I have tried logging in as an applicant and as a student. What am I doing wrong?

Is the problem that that particular username was when I was applying and I was given a new when when I was accepted or something?

Also when I click "Forgot your password?" They ask for my University ID card number which I don't have yet so that is not possible either.

Any possible insight is definitely appreciated.

MyPitt may be the most ineptly designed web site I have ever encountered. It may very well be an error on their end of things. The part of the website with housing assignments was down for a week and a half this summer. You probably will have to call pitt to get it all settled. The help desk number is 412-624-4357. Good luck and see you this fall!

Your login username should be your 3 initials followed by some numbers. IE: SJM57 or TFH83 or something like that. You should login under “Students,” not Applicants, and your password should be something YOU set up, with at least 1 number and 1 punctuation, unless you never set it up, in which case it is a university-provided one.

Worst comes to worst, you can take your placement exams at PittStart, get your card there, and reset your password when you get home. However, calling Pitt, while possibly infuriating, will probably be your best course of action.

!!!

Well Thank you CuttingEdge for the advice [mostly because it allowed me to maintain my ego] but it appears that Leesamurmur is correct and I was the one at fault

:)

My faith is restored in Pitt programming.

But,yes, thank you very much Leesamurmur, I remembered setting up a username and password with the format you mentioned and when I tried them it worked!!

I thought that I was doing that for just my Pitt email account but I see now that you access that through my.pitt [I’m sort of oblivious to these things]
so yes I appear to have fallen prey to my own changes.

This helps, sometimes the little things frustrate me a lot so I appreciate this, thank you. Both.
