I know my question might sound pretty silly, but I didn't really know who to ask. I already submitted most of my supplemental essays and today out of nowhere I realized that I didn't follow the correct essay format, that is I didn't indent the beginning of every new paragraph nor did I double space. I don't know how I didn't think about this! I'm freaking out, can someone please tell me whether I'm in trouble or not? Help will be greatly appreciated.

Did the instructions explicitly call for this format, or do you think you were supposed to format it like that because someone on the internet said so?

If the instructions explicitly called for this format, you have two options. You can either re-format your essays, email them to the college and ask that they be added to your file. Or you can ignore the mistake and trust that whoever is reading your application is intelligent enough to read an essay in a different format too.

If the instructions didn’t explicitly call for this format, I would not double-space the essay. Double-spacing actually makes papers harder to read. High school and college papers are double-spaced so that the instructor can leave comments between the lines, but that’s not necessary for most application essays. You wouldn’t double-space a job application either. (If a college does want an essay double spaced, they’ll tell you!)
