PLEASE HELP

Hi everyone!
When I applied to my 2 reach schools I was deferred and I’m not sure if I should wait to hear back from them or ED2 to either Bucknell or Lehigh (which I like just as much). My main concern is that I will end up being denied from my reach schools (which I most likely will) and then be denied from the regular decision at Bucknell and Lehigh. I have heard that the Regular Decision is very selective at both these schools and i was wondering if this is true?
Here are my stats:
3.74 weighted GPA 3.62 UW
8 APs
30 ACT 31 Super Score
and 3 varsity sports and various clubs and community services

i know that ultimately this needs to be my own decision but i need some help please! thank you

I also started my own charity and raised 100k+ and interned at teen vogue

okay so I’m applying to schools now too so I’m not an expert, this is my opinion.

don’t apply ED unless that school is the school for you. acceptance ED means that you retract all other applications and will attend unless you are financially incapable (some schools ask for proof, some don’t). point is, if you want to keep your options open, RD. it’s safer, and yeah the rates are lower but the risk is as well.

Thanks!

I think you have a solid chance to get into Lehigh or Bucknell RD, but it would not be 100% certain. It is probably safer to apply ED2 and be finished. Both schools are excellent.

My student applied RD to Lehigh with just slightly higher grades and test scores than yours, and she did get in, but she was nervous until he had the acceptance in her hand.

Hold on!

Do not apply ED2 unless you and your parents are in a financial position to accept whatever financial aid package you may receive. You will be signing a binding agreement stating that you agree to accept whatever financial aid package you are given. What you think you SHOULD get in financial aid and what Lehigh thinks you should get might be very different. Your personal financial situation should be the number one consideration you must address before applying ED2.

@kikkydee “You will be signing a binding agreement stating that you agree to accept whatever financial aid package you are given.”

This is true, but you can use the Net Price Calculator (NPC) on the website to get an estimate.

Lehigh’s Net Price Calculator:

Please note this important disclaimer on the Net Price Calculator:
“However, this tool has limitations and may not provide an accurate net price for you. Accuracy of the tool diminishes if information is entered into the tool incorrectly; a student’s parents are divorced, separated or never married; any family members have business or farm ownership or involvment; and/or any family members have ownership in real estate. We strongly recommend saving the results of your net price calculation and invite you to share this information, and any questions or concerns you may have, with the Lehigh Office of Financial Aid.”

I stand by what I said before - If you have any financial concerns about the amount of financial aid you NEED to receive then a binding ED2 option is not a wise choice for you. Who cares if you get accepted to Lehigh if you can’t afford to pay for it.
