I am looking for a big school that has really good sports team. The only problem is that those are usually in the south. I want to go to a big school with a culture like Alabama or Clemson that is in the north but I just can’t find one. I would go to umass but those computer science programs are really hard to get into.
Major: Computer Science
From: Massachusetts
GPA: 3.3
SAT: 1200
Extracurricular: Member of Chess and Cyber Security Club; Soccer Captain and I participate in indoor and outdoor track.
Syracuse
Rutgers
Penn State
Do you think I can get in those schools with my stats
What about Big Ten schools like Indiana, Michigan State, UMD, Ohio State, and Penn state? Other schools to look into are Syracuse, Villanova, and Uconn.
School spirit is good, but you should not be going to a school based on sports unless you are a recruited athlete. Prioritize your intended major, cost, and fit.
It’s not cause of sports it’s more the culture aspect of the school that attracts me.
And I would prefer schools in the northeast because I don’t want to pay out of state tuition if I don’t have to.
If you don’t want to pay oos tuition, you are limited to public schools in Massachusetts, in which case UMass Amherst would be your best bet. You will have to pay oos tuition in northeast states outside of Massachusetts anyways. Something like Uconn could end up costing $50k.
Cost of attendance will be expensive at private universities regardless of location. If you can afford it, Syracuse looks like your best bet.
Notre Dame
Also, most of these schools will be reaches.
