Please Help!!

Here's my dilemma: I want to apply e.d. to my first choice college, but I also want to retake my SATs and the SAT IIs. I didn't do bad on them at all, higher than I expected, but I am trying to get this scholarship that they offer you just by reading your application, etc. (so I want really good scores). The only thing is the deadline is Nov. 15, and there's only 1 SAT date (Oct. 8). Will they allow me (even if I have to beg) to take the tests on the same day? Any info would really help.

Because the tests are given at the same time, it's impossible to take the SAT I and SAT II on the same day.

I'm sorry, but you were born too late. Years ago, they were given on the same day and students frequently took them in one sitting. (SAT I in the AM, followed by a lunch break, then SAT IIs in the afternoon.) However, that was long, long ago. You may be able to take one in Oct and the other in Nov, though. Many schools will accept the Nov SATs for ED.

Would the ACT be acceptable....you could take the test on Sept 24..and then have another opportunity to take the test in October

I was thinking about finding out whether or not they would accept scores sent in from the November test date. I think I should take those just to give myself more options. They'll take the ACT too, I'm signing up for that.

If you are doing ea, colleges advise taking the October. They don't advise the November because the scores would not arrive on time. I am refering to schools such as Duke, University of Richmond, Williams.

College Board appears to be struggling with sending scores out in a timely fashion......It may be risky for you.

Good luck with the scholarship.....

get it rushed. :) if u pay extra, ur scores can be sent 2 weeks after you took the SATs

I don't know about the other mentioned schools, but here is a direct quote from the Williams 2005-6 viewbook: "For Early Decision candidates, admission tests taken through November will be considered by the Williams Admission Committee if the results are sent directly to the College or provided by your high school counselor." (Emphasis in the original.)

My best recollection is that each of the viewbooks my son has received specifically stated the Nov SATs were OK for EA or ED.

EllenF, you are correct about Williams, it does give that info on the website, but when I spoke to the admissions officer there was a concern about the delays they were experiencing due to the new test..... the admissions officer was advising October....although she did not advise against November..... she strongly suggested it could be a risk..there is also the risk of a test cancellation, my d test was cancelled this past November because of a severe winter storm...we never anticipated a cancellation......I suggest talking with the colleges directly....

When I applied to Columbia, several places in the viewbook and app stated not to rush SAT scores, because it won't help.
