Alright, well since this is called the "What are my Chances" thread, i'm going to ask just that. Here are my stats:

White Middle Class Student from Massachusetts
1690 New SAT
3.67 Weighted GPA

All Honors courses with 3 AP's: Psychology, Statistics, U.S. History
Will Graduate with 8 varsity letters for cross country, track, and lacrosse

Top 20% of highschool calss of approx. 300 students

A few extracurriculars and community service, but nothing to brag about.

Now, here are the schools I was contemplating so far. I am interested in business, particularily finance and/or banking.

I'd like to stay somewhat on the east coast, but name any schools which you feel fit my statistics and my need for a competitive business atmosphere and good connections.

Here are the schools I have been looking into. Please be honest and let me know if they are a) a Match, b) a reach, or c) a safety.

Bryant University
Bentley College
Northeastern
UMaine
UMass
URI
UCONN
Babson College
Quinnipiac University
Ithaca College

Thanks in advance, it is greatly appreciated!

Well i'm an amateur, but from the looks of it, you're a qualified candidate, particularly with your 8 letters. However, you might want to raise your SAT score, as it doesn't really correspond with your GPA. But your courseload and EC's sound like a good fit for your schools, especially Ithaca and Babson, although those are the two I know the most about, so don't call me on that. I'm sure I'm not much help... let me do a little research tonight and I'll get back to you.

Look into schools that don't require you to submit SAT scores. I know Bates doesn't. That's probably a bit of a reach, but who knows if you apply early, I think they like that.

Thanks, how about the schools I have listed, are they good choices, and how do I stack up to get into them?

Laxckier, From what I have read, but I do not have personal knowledge, NE would be difficult bcs your home is in Ma.

any opinions on the other schools?

From what I've heard, Babson is tough to get into dude. Are they big on sports? If they are, you're in I'd say.

You have a big advantage being such a good athlete. I'd say you should bring up your grades, not that they are by any means shameful.

Bryant University--Match
Bentley College--Reach
Northeastern--Match--maybe low Reach
UMaine--Safety
UMass--Safety
URI--Safety
UCONN--Match
Babson College--Reach
Quinnipiac University--Match
Ithaca College--Match

You've compiled a very good list of schools here. I'm assuming you're interested in business/finance?

The state schools with the exception of UConn are easy safeties.

The 3 B's--Babson, Bentley, and Bryant are very good schools...Babson is probably a big reach...Bentley is less of a reach but still a reach...and Bryant matches your numbers. I would apply to all 3 because you never know.

Quinnipiac is also a good business school and a match for you.

Hey Gemaco, could you do that on my thread, probably on the second or third page of the forum at this point.

That's exactly what I've been wanting people to do, and they don't.

please, more suggestions!

bump please please

I think Babson has a low acceptance rate. Why not also check out the University of Vermont?

Someone said his SAT does not correspond with his GPA. I agree because it is obvious there. What SAT would correspond with that GPA?

I have like a 3.81 unweighted, and I'm wondering what to expect on my SAT junior or senior year.

please help me out with that list

Holy Cross doesn't require SAT's. Maybe try BU if you get your SAT's up a bit. :) Good luck!

Hey Texasmathwhiz, the reason most people don't post stuff like that is because no one on this thread really knows. I know that's not what you want to hear, but trust me, come April there will be threads like 'everyone told me that such and such school was a safety and i got rejected' or 'i got into schools you guys told me i couldn't' etc. Sure, someone can attribute some title like 'match' to a school based on your SAT scores, but they really know less than you do...this is something you have to evaluate for yourself, and sure, they'll be surprises, but you just have to hope you guessed right.

anyone with more input>
