I'm only a high school freshmen but I need to know about how I can get in my dream school. My courses and grades are
Physical Education: 100%
Spanish 2: 95%
Geometry: 88%
Biology Honors: 87%
Computer Application: 98%
Health: 90%
French 2: 90%
English Honors: 90%
Living in the 21'st. Century: 95%
American Cultures Honors: 97%

I'm also taking Journalism next year, writing for the school's award winning newspaper, a member of Young Republicans, going to be an Eagle Scout with in a year, and I'm at a blue ribbon High School.

My dream school is George Washington University. Please help with at this pace what chances do I have in getting accepted and what can I do to increase my odds. Please help with suggestions and be honest. I may be young but I prefer honesty. No Sugarcoating!

I think it’s cool you’re so focused, but don’t be too neurotic about this stuff. Being focused early on will definitely increase your chances of getting accepted to your dream school. You’ll do fine, just seriously try as hard as you can. Take the hardest classes that are offered at your school and MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GOOD RELATIONSHIPS WITH YOUR TEACHERS. Be on friend-like terms with at least 3 of your teachers by your junior year. Take classes you know your favorite teachers are teaching, and make sure they KNOW YOU. If you succeed in hard classes and have good relationships with your teachers, you’ll get into GWU. But also, don’t rule out other schools.

Here’s a few more things I was wondering. Are my extra curricular’s and GPA too weak for GWU? When I graduate I plan to have had only one study hall for half of freshmen year and no study halls for the rest of it. I’m also hoping to join Youth in Government next year.
Here are the courses I’ll have taken each year:
Sophomore Year:
Spanish 3
French 2
Journalism 1
Algebra 2/Trigonometry
Chemistry Honors
World Cultures 1 Honors
English Honors
Physical Education
Highway Safety

Extra Curriculars: Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow (Scouting Honor Society) Youth in Government, Young Republicans, Broadcaster ( Our school’s award winning newspaper), and French Club.

Junior Year:
Spanish 4
French 3
Journalism 2
Pre Calculus
Physics AP
World Cultures 2 AP
English AP
Physical Education

Extra Curriculars: Same as above

Senior Year
Spanish 5
French 4
Journalism 3
Calculus AB
Biology (Senior Year Class) AP
Money and Power AP (A social studies class)
English AP
Psychology

Thanks for any help and suggestions.
Could anyone give percentage chances for these schools if I take those classes and end with a 91-94 GPA. My school is one of the best public schools in Pennsylvania

Schools in order of Interest (Political Science Major)

Does Money and Power AP–>AP Macroecon? and World Cultures–>AP World History?

That seems weird to me. Don’t designate it “AP” unless it actually corresponds to some AP exam.

Otherwise, it’s hard to tell freshman year. So much changes. I’d say in the running for all of them as for now, but it’s hard to tell without test scores, class rank, grade changes, new opportunities that you never have thought of before, etc.

EC’s/GPA look OK to me. There is nothing substantial that will increase/decrease your odds at this point.

I know it’s your #2 school, but I would think UNC is tougher to get into than GW.

Also good advice: try to avoid this site until junior year. Although addicting, CC is known to cause severe depression, irritability, and uneasiness in students.

Ok in response I didn’t know the AP thing. My bad. I know a lot of things will change and that UNC is harder to get into. And again as far as junior year goes I understand exactly what your saying and I can see how that could be true however I’m definitely the type of person who wants things planned to the extreme and likes to know the truth. Thanks for commenting. Seriously thanks.

okay, so you ARE me, except i’m a girl and a sophmore. but basically, your stats are pretty similiar, right down to journalism & i’m even a gold award girl scout. except unc is my dream school. i don’t know a ton about george washington, but i think you need to boost up your gpa a little, but you’ve got tons of time. i think your good for American. for most of the rest of the schools, it really depends on whether your instate or not. UNC-CH will be extremely tough from out-of-state (in my opinion it’s the toughest school on your list with Syracuse) with your current stats, but once again, you’ve still got so much time. my only advice (keep in mind, coming from a sophmore), is to just take it one year at a time and realize that there are some things that will come into play when it comes time for admissions that you haven’t even the slightest idea about now. i know that my older brother never even dreamed he’d be competitive for the schools that he was, but things have a strange way of working out.

Yes I agree with what you say. I think my GPA is my weak point but I’ve been improving it every marking period. I can’t for see me getting into UNC but not George Washington but if that happens thats where I’d go. One advantage about George Washington is that it’s in DC which makes their a lot less instate people. Well its not even a state, it’s a district. I agree with the factors. I know I’m really young to be planning this stuff. As far as the other factors go I think it’s going to help me. A lot of the people ranked ahead of me are either 1. on drugs or 2. have cheating problems. I do neither which will hopefully help in the future and improve my class rank. I’m the only person I know who’s actually increased their GPA each marking period. Thanks for the comment. Best of luck with UNC-Chapel Hill.
