Ok - so I've been admitted into L&S and have looked everywhere on their web site to see if/how they give IB credit.... The only reference to IB is that you can pass out the R&C requirements with IB HL English score 5. I emailed L&S advising who sent me a link which didn't really mention IB..... I'm beginning to worry now. Have any of you current students had to deal with this? Does L&S give credit for taking the IB diploma or not? The other Colleges (Eng, Haas, CNR) reference IB but not L&S. It would be so disappointing to know that I don't get anything for all those exams I'm about to take next month!

i also want to know the answer!!!!

On the UCOP site, there is a page that shows you credit equivalency.

You get 20 units for getting 30pts/+ on your diploma.
As for using it to get out of courses, your SLs will be useless

Hl scores less than 5 get squat
Bio HL gets you the same thing as Bio AP (Bio 1A+B)
Math HL gets you squat
English A1 HL is the only useful one, it gets you out of R&C

Here is a pdf i found a long time ago

yea, none of my credits really helped me... especially because grad/med school nulls certain credits.

Haas some good info.

admission officer replied me:

If you completed the IB diploma with a total of 30 or more points, you will receive 20 semester units of transferable credit. These units will be used toward your total needed for graduation.

at least the units get you toward soph/junior standing right? so you have higher priority in registering for classes? :P

really? i dont see an elevated status in terms of class standings. hm..

you will be elevated amongst other incoming frosh, you will need non-empty units from classes taken at CCs or UC summer sessions to be able to get enough units to have TeleBEARS appointments contemporaneous with sophomores, juniors, or seniors. EX. one of my friends completed most of his high school in community college and as a result he has so many units that he has TeleBEARS with the seniors.

Hi,
I'm an IBer as well, and I was wondering if we have to get a certain grade on the IB diploma. Do we just have to GET the diploma, or do they not even care? They'll cancel your acceptance if you fail to get the diploma, right? (which means getting at least a 4 in all of the subjects? What about the extra points from our EE and TOK essay??) But to get the diploma, don't you HAVE to get something like a 30? So do all IB diploma students at berkeley already have these units?!?!
Sorta confused.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you need a total score of 30 or more on the IB diploma to get units for it at Cal. Sorry I can't provide a source but I remember reading it someplace. :/ Hope that helps.. somewhat.

edit: I found something!

Though I'm not sure if this varies among the various "colleges" at Berkeley.
