Please! Please Help!

First of all, I don't know if this is the right area to start this thread, so if anything, let me know and I'll move it to the proper one.

So I'm in my sophomore year of Community College (why? because first and second years back in 2010 had the worst priority registration system, etc etc), and earlier this week, I checked my status as student. It says that I'm at 83.8 credits already. But I only have 59 transferable credits. However, my status uses the higher number, and I think that's the one that's to be used for everything from here on out. I'm worried, because I'm pretty sure that will affect my financial aid, right?

Tomorrow, I am going to my Admissions office to see what's going on with that because when I added up all of the credits for my classes, they didn't exactly add up to 83. Maybe there was something I possibly missed; I don't know, but I'm hoping I can clear it up tomorrow or somehow have those credits that screw me over removed, or anything.

Do classes that you get D's in count? I screwed up last year when I took up 7 classes for two semesters and got a job alongside that to help at home...

Anyway, I'm looking to transfer to a school abroad, and I already emailed the schools about what classes they expect me to have already taken. Information about visas and auditions are already on their websites. I'm more worried about the academics I need to attend the schools I want to give my shots at.

If anyone could please help, or guide me on what I could possibly do in case if these "83 credits" affect me negatively. I attend school in California if that helps with anything.

A D is not a passing grade. However, you need to talk to your school to find out for sure about your units.

I’m not sure what you want help with. FA? If so, how will that help with attending a school abroad?

It depends where you go, for the most part D’s would count towards units attempted but not units completed and you can definitely retake those classes for a better grade.

Transferrable doesn’t matter at a community college so for admissions and registration purposes you’ll probably be last to pick but you can still take classes and get financial aid if you want/need to.

entomom, I understand that a D is not a passing grade; however, I already made up the D I received. I was told by a school counselor on Monday that FA probably counts attempted units in order to determine if we’ll receive FA or not. I’m concerned with FA only so that I can finish my studies here, and then transfer abroad.

There are some schools that are US-based in other countries that accept financial aid, but that’s not what I’m worried about. In the case that things don’t go as planned and I don’t go abroad, I’ll have to go to school here. I’m worried about schools counting the attempted credits, instead of the transferable credits when evaluating a student for admission.

I’m sorry if I’m being unclear, I’m getting all of this out quickly because of stress. :(

Hi Matt 4200, I already made up the D I had.

But I’m a bit confused about what you mean for the registration. Do you mean because of the attempted units, I’ll probably lose my priority registration? Because if that’s the case, that’s something else I’ll have to bring up tomorrow at the admissions office to see what I can do about my situation. Does financial aid get cut if you go over a certain number of credits taken? If so, does that vary from school to school?

Uhm as far as for registration all that matters is completed units, I believe at my CC once you go over 76 units you fall to the back of the line for all registration unless you are military or foster youth.

Financial aid at the Community College level will stop once you hit 90 completed units transferrable and nontransferrble together. With the exception of Engineering majors.

Scholarships don’t discriminate though you can have them as long as you go there regardless of units.
