is the letter sent express mail or something special and delivered separately form your regular mail, or does it come with the regular magazine and bills and letters and stuff?

with all your regular mail- its mailed via USPS. find out how long it will take to get to you here: http://postcalc.usps.gov/. Princetons zip is 08540

it comes as priority mail. they paid $4 to send mine :)

kewl.. give us a pic of the envelope.. pleeeeeeze.

hahah okay ill tell my dad to upload it for you guys. lol its just a normal white envelope. just the size of a sheet of paper.

yeah. inside there's a folder =D

for the international students, do the express delivery people call you before they bring you your mail? or they just go to your home directly?

I picked up my mail this morning- I live in Wisconsin. No mail from them. Looks like midwest/west coasters will be waiting until Monday. :(

Oh no! Your mail comes that early?

I'll reiterate my point: they probably decided to drive letters to NE and Midwest, but they have to fly it to the West coast.

That's what I said yesterday too. That's why I'm still optimistic!

it is bad how they've scheduled their mailings. when they do not have online decisions, they must've ensured that everyone in the world receives their mail on the same day.

How could they do that?

send out intl apps three days earlier, west coast apps two day earlier and east coast and mid US apps one day ealier to the date they want everyone to get the results.

That would take time to calculate how far each letter needs to go, which intl's should be sent 3 days earlier, 2 days earlier, or 4 days earlier. Where do you draw the line between 1 day earlier and 2 days earlier in the states? This is the way the process has worked for decades before e-mail acceptances. I don't see why it's imperative that everyone receive their decision at the same time, and I don't think that's one of Princeton's goals either (else they would do online admissions).

shrugs Just trying to be practical

i know it isnt their goal.. but im asking why it isn't their goal???

doesnt everyone have a right to know at the same time? why should I be subjected to two more days of stress when other people are celebrating/working on RD apps already?

agreed....

I'm not quite sure why they choose not to do decisions online.

But it would just not be worth the time to calculate all of the numbers. You also have to remember that the timing depends on the specific post offices also so there's really no scenario where everyone would have the answer at the same time, excluding online.
