About the Washington Residency. (Living in border is tricky!!!)
Currently I live in Vancouver but going to CC at Portland. I moved to Vancouver few months ago because of the rent is cheaper. So I follow the law and get my Washington driver license and register my car in Washington. However, I am wondering is that count as moving to Washington for educational purpose and not getting the Washington residency? I am still going to school in Portland, Oregon even tho Clark college is a few mile away from me. Will it consider as living out of state? (I swear I go home every day!!)
Second, I would like to transfer to UW with 60 credits (Not 90 credits). If I transfer from Portland Community College, is that count as out-of-state student? I know there will be lower chance to get into UWS but I would give it a try. If failed, try with 90 credits again! If done, WOHOO Lets party!
Currently my overall GPA is 3.54 (I know I know is not good.)
Actually I have 88 credits but half of them is ESL credits and some of them are not transferable to UW, so right now I will have around 20 credits that can be transferring to UW successfully. After a year before apply to the 2017 winter, I will have 60 credits for sure and if I am lucky with getting all A, I will have 3.8 overall GPA.
Actually the main concern for me is the washington residency because if I got into UWS but need to pay Out-of State tuition, I will just leave! The chances of getting into it, I read a lot of discussion and I know how little chance is it. BUT! even there is only 1%, I have to try!
Some of you might ask why I don’t apply to transfer after I met all the pre-reqs and have all 90 credits then transfer. I got my “stupid” reason. And there is more like a challenge to myself. I started to prepare for transfer already! Brain-stroming my personal statement and thinking about how to take my class in these one year before I apply to UWS. AND I will only apply for UWS because that is my only target. same as I mentioned, If failed, go get 90 credits and try it again, If done? PARTY!
I wish everyone can give me some advices and I will be REALLY REALLY appreciated for that!
