Hey guys, new here. I just wanted to see what you guys though of my portfolio. I'm applying to SCI-arc, Syracuse, Iowa State, University of Oregon, and last but not least architectural association in london. So what do you guys think of my chances of getting accepted artistically speaking ? Flickr: mahmoudsammak's Photostream

Technically speaking, you have skill. Artistically speaking, your work lacks composition / decision making. Your 3D renderings are nice, but many colleges do not want to see floor plans or buildings you have created in Google SketchUp; they prefer drawings from life (Portraits, still-lifes, landscapes, observational drawings, etc.)
And not to sound harsh, but the works you have that appear to be done from observation are composed of singular floating objects- something to avoid completely. When doing still lifes, the objects in it should be interacting with the environment (Falling over, having light/shade cast on it from a back drop, etc.) which makes artwork more appealing to look at.
I did like the one still life with the spray bottle, but, I think the diagonal lines ruin the expressive color changes in the objects. I also liked you interior you did with pen, but, did you draw from observation/ Photographs? Or is it an idea of yours?

And to anwser your question on the likely hood of you being accepted at the schools you listed, I’m going to have to say you may be denied from Syracuse and U of Oregon as they schools weigh admission alot on portfolio presentation. Syracuse also posted what they were looking for in portfolios, It’s located here: [Syracuse SOA](<a href=“Syracuse Architecture”>Syracuse Architecture)

I do not know of the other programs you have mentioned, or you High school academics, so I cannot fully give you a ‘chance’ at the schools you listed.

I think you’d be better off going to an official portfolio review, of which they many around the country, then getting opinions from us

thank’s for the advice !

Are you an SU student ?

Have you already applied to Arch schools? I also don’t think there are many Portfolio days are left, but here is the link: [National Portfolio Day - 2011-12 NPDA Event Schedule](http://www.portfolioday.net/content/view/104/53/)
