i also have a question--mine is 164 word right now, do I really have to cut it?

^164 is ok.

can anyone help me edit/critique it?

thanks!

bump!bump!bump!bump!

My "short" answer was 623 words LOL.

WOW
is that OK?

I don't know. The electronic Common App gave me 3000 characters to use even though it says only 150 words so I just used that as an indicator.

As long as it's entertaining, somewhat fun to read, or insightful I don't see what the problem is. Most admission's officers like these kind of things, a change in pace in reading through hundreds if not thousands of applications.

Just make sure you click on the print preview button before you send in your Common App to see if your short answer didn't go past the borderline (mine did, so I had to take out a sentence).

Plus, you have two other essays that are supposed to be much longer with more "writing-esque" prompts to worry about. I think those will be the overall indicators of your writing skill.

alright

thanks!
