Please reply, but don't laugh

okay. after reading all those posts filled with excellent scores, i am embarrassed to even ask. BUT, i will = ]. I just love Dartmouth College !! & i'll die to go there, but my scores are very low.

SAT I
math - 740
reading - 550
writing - 510 (9 on essay)

SAT II
math I - 720
physics - 590
ushistory - 510

I am planning to major in biomedicall engineering, so i should have higher math and physics... on SATs though, however, i have to admit that i didn't study. I know i should this summer = / but i doubt it'll go much higher. Assuming that this will be my final score, would Dartmouth College laugh at my face?

I know it might be an excuse but i think i am just not good at taking test. (or to study) As far as gpa, activities and classes are concerned, our school is small to have the variety.

gpa - 4.14
rank - 2/70 ( i go to all girls catholic private school near Boston.. so it's a small class)
race - asian (foreign student. i came to america in 7th grade)

activities -
school treasurer/officer
student council
club council
started a robotics team
choir - plays piano & a leader
SADD - treasuer
Art club
Book club
Drama
National Honor Society
Students for Alum.
Recruitment team
athletic association
volleyball - mvp star
track and field

It's a small school and as far as taking classes, i do take high classes that is available. past year i took - hon calc, hon ushistory, hon britlit, hon physics, hon religion, hon french. Next year as a senior i'll be taking - harvard extention calc, ap ushistory, ap english, ap physics, hon french, hon religion.

be honest , and feel free to laugh but please take time to replyy = ]

thank you

unless you can increase your scores, a lot, you unfortunately wont have much of a chance.
is english not your first language? because that will be helpful in explaining your low verbal scores. study that vocab!

yea it isn't.
i came during middle school
but that shouldn't be an excuse
sigh

If you want Dartmouth bad enough, it's doable. But only if you study your a** off and raise those scores. Your other stats seem reasonable, and with a good essay you can do it, but it's gonna take some MAJOR studying for those tests.

yea i will.
thank you.

Have you taken the ACT? Maybe that's a better test for you.

yeah study for the ACT and take it in september...if you cant get a 31+ then you will get rejected sadly. you seem nice though... + points from me

i guess i'll try to take ACT lol
thanks.. i need to take TOEFL too if you guys know what that is.
i sorta dislike tests = [

jimbob1225 lol that was funny "you seem nice though"

why does dartmouth seem to be the unknown Ivy League school?

No, I'm pretty sure Cornell is the unknown Ivy League. In my experience, people know HYP, Dartmouth, and Brown (thanks to Lisa Simpson). Columbia is only slightly less common, but nobody knows Cornell.

i'm a dartmouth '10 and it seems that nobody can identify it...ever. a conversation usually goes: "so where are you headed to college?" "oh i'm going to dartmouth." "oh...really? puzzled expression on face where is that again?" not that it matters or anything...dartmouth totally owns. but from experience it seems that everybody knows cornell is a "good" school, not necessarily an ivy league though. most people can only identify harvard, yale, p'ton, columbia, and brown (not UPenn)...but the people that actually matter (the ones hiring us or getting us into grad school) knowof the insane prestige associated with dartmouth so it's alllll good.

It is very true in my experience that no one knows where Dartmouth is. A lot know that it is a great Ivy League school, but most have no clue about even which state it is in. "Somewhere out east" is as specific as it gets.
