I really messed up ninth and tenth grade and my gpa for those two grades was a 2.5(80 average) however I am a junior now and I bumped myself up to a 3.8 last semester. But by the time I apply my overal gpa will still be low. I'm assuming it will only be a 2.9 if I'm lucky =/
I havent taken my Sats or Acts yet but lets say I do well can someone please tell me if I stand a chance at any of these schools?

University of Colorado at Boulder
U. of Tampa
U. of Central Florida
U. of Mississippi
Cuny Hunter
University of Pittsburg
or Temple University

I do many outside community service and extracurricular activities. I don't know if thats going to help me at all though.
Please someone get back to me, I really would appreciate it! Thanks.

I'm sorry to say that I think Central Florida will be a problem. It's the fastest growing and the largest campus in the Florida system. They are constructing all over the place and occupancy is up to about 45K total, as such everyone is applying there. Their median 50% SAT is around 1200 and the median GPA is about 3.5-3.6. From their data it looks like 3.0 is right around the minimum for admittance. However if you have strong assets to your resume and can sustain that junior year performance into you senior year it can't do anything but help. I would continue to work hard and talk to your guidance person about your chances and prospects of any of these schools. My daughter has still not been accepted at UCF, her GPA is 3.1 and her ACT's are 26 composite and 1140 SAT. We have been defered since November and have sent in our mid term grades here in the last week. we are keeping our fingers crossed.

I would suggest visiting the linked site below at the Princeton review and also the Peterson's site to get addition insights and information on match, stretch and safe schools. Also read some of the past college chats or join some upcoming ones with the Greens on the Peterson's site they are very worthwhile.

Don't be embarassed, there are just a lot of annoying overachievers here who only see ivy. Are any of these schools in-state for you? I'm not an expert on these schools but I think you have a very reasonable chance of getting into a couple of them.

i think you ought to pick out more safeties... do you have any reason for getting such poor grades your frosh/soph year and are you in any difficult (ap/honors) classeS? cuz thats really critical

My parents got divoced and me, my mother, and my sister moved out when I was in the middle of ninth grade. However, I am doing much much better this year(junior). I am also looking to do a summer program. I'm taking the sat's in may hope to do very well on that too! I'm praying to God that whoever reads my application will see the upward grade trend. My guidance counseler keeps telling me to go to a local community college and yessss i know how that can benefit me and save me money but honestly the people that go to that community college or even local schools near me are the ones that have no self morals or values! I dont want to be in the wrong crowd =] Whew, I'm talking a lot..

hey there, i had a terrible junior year and my excuse isnt even close to as good as yours (sports?). epiphanies r looked on very highly to colleges so a good essay or extra information section explanation will get you in where you want to go, especially on that list. now im not familiar with them, but a good test score can do wonders to prove you're worthy. also, waiting til the regular process if ur school recalculates gpa/rank at semester of senior year is an option if u think ur chances r better bc deferred applicants at most universities have low acceptance rates in teh regular pool
