Hey Everybody,

I am currently a student at Wayne State university with a 3.42 cumlative GPA, applying to transfer 56 hours into LSA. My application was complete around the middle of December and i recieved a defferal letter in Feb and have not heard anything since. Should i email the person that reviewed my app like a letter or something extra? Does anyone know what my chances are or how many defferal transfer apps they usually accept? I was orginally under the impression that a 3.42 would get me in no problem..Please everyone lemme know your thoughts/ knowledge of transfer defferall situations.
Thanks..

Hi,

Last year, I was admitted with a 3.9 from a somewhat large in-state University. I was never deferred, but recieved a letter requesting semester grades before they'd make a decision. A 3.42 is by no means a guaranteed admittance.

E-mail your admissions counselor and ask her when to expect a decision; I did this last year with no problems.

Good luck!

I agree with soccerzoo. There never is a "sure bet" when it comes to Michigan admissions and a 3.4 GPA will definitely not guarantee you a spot.

I transferred this year successfully with a 3.3 from a top 60 LAC; however, I do know people who have been rejected with around the same GPA. WRite good essays and be sure to get a positive letter of rec. It's optional, but with a competitive school like U-M, you're at a disadvantage if you dont have one.
