I have given SAT thrice, below are my scores
CR- 550 Writing- 550 Maths- 630
CR- 620 Writing- 620 Maths-680
CR- 570 Writing- 700 Maths-700
I talked to many people (telling them about my EC's). Many said that my EC's will cover up for my 30-40 point diff in CR section as my writing and maths are totally upto the mark.
I have given SAT 3 times so I dont wanna give it again just to play with my CR score.
On top of that, I have 4 GPA and I am in top 10% of my class. I also have national level sports certificates.
please suggest should I retake SAT for fourth time cause I aim for IVY league

If you are aiming for the Ivy League, then please know that you have TAKEN the SAT, not GIVEN the SAT.

@GMTplus7 - Seriously ? Can you stop being a smartass and try to solve my problem please ?

If u are aiming for Yale, I would definitely say u should retake. A 2200+ will give u a huge boost. Of course u can still get admitted with a 1970, but the odds will be much better with a 2200+.

@shadowgunkiller - But should I be retaking it for the fourth time ? I really dont have enough time cause I want to attend the summer program at YALE
Before that I have to take the subject tests too
I was just wondering about my chances with this score

P.S. Ive heard that colleges will use my CR score of 620 from my second attempt

Well, I am not sure if Yale super scores, but if they do, then yes, they will use ur 620 score. If u don’t have time, just apply with this score and hope for the best.

@vanshmurad: it strikes me several things are going on right now
- You’ve taken SAT three times and are wondering if you have enough time to take a 4th sitting, hoping for a boosted score. No one can answer this for you. Likely, you’re at your maximum ability. Truthfully, that score won’t stand out in competitive college addmissions.
- what else can you do to enhance your overall presentation: I can tell you taking a Yale summer session is NOT it. While nice, it is no better than your working a job over the summer.

My best advice for you is to sit back and honestly assess whether or not a 4th sitting will improve your scores. And also do not settle on only extremely selective admissions such as Yale. The fact is even if you score 2300, your odds are still tiny.

EDIT: You mention national level sports certificates. It strikes me that you’re applying as an international applicant. This pool has the WORST competition among top US colleges due to the overwhelming number of top applicants. SAT 2010 won’t get you into HYP given its extremely generous Fin Aid for internationals. You REALLY need to expand your list of target schools and remove those three from your list.

That score is really, really low for Yale (and even for the other ivies.) Why do you want to go so badly? Harvard, Yale, and Princeton aren’t necessarily so great.

Not a chance with that score… Yale is one of the most selective colleges in the country.

@MikeNY5 - Could you suggest atleast any ivy league college which comes in this range ?

T26E4 and MikeNY5 answered your question. Why are you tormenting yourself? Superscored, you have a 2020 SAT. That is low for any Ivy, especially for an International applicant. There are many non-Ivy schools that are very good to great where you might get accepted. Spend your energy finding them.

FWIW, you believe that “my writing and maths are totally up to the mark,” but for the level of schools you’re dreaming of, usually a 750+ is considered “up to the mark,” and 800s are even more so.

Depending on what your ECs/sport are, they might make up for these scores at highly selective schools. But the scores alone are not stellar for the most selective schools, especially for an international applicant. I don’t see a lot of point taking the SAT again, because it doesn’t look likely that the CR score will go up–indeed, it went down the last time you took the test. I agree with those who say you have to broaden your search to more schools.

I believe cornell has the lowest average SAT, but why do you want to go to an ivy? Prestige fades the moment you walk on campus. Do you really want to spend the next 4 years at a school that you hate?

Your 2020 is a very good score, and it will open a lot of collegiate doors for you; just not ivy league doors.
