Should I retake?

Hey guys.
I took the SAT 3 times and my highest score (one seating) is 2180.
I know that the score is okay, but it's quite unbalanced. My Cr score is 630...
(My math is 790, writing is 760)
I dont want to retake the SAT I so should I try to take ACT and see if i get a higher score?
I am currently scoring 36s on Math/English, 32-34 on science and 30 on Reading.
I wil be applying to Yale SCEA, UPenn, Cornell, Duke, JHU, and Rice.

Btw, if i dont retake it, do u guys think i still have chance for those schools?

I’d pretty much always recommend taking one sitting fo the SAT, then the next testing session take the ACT (unless your SAT scores are good enough). Some people are more geared to doing well on the ACT, others the SAT. Your SAT is pretty darn good. You definitely have a chance at those schools with your SAT (depending on grades/ECs), but if you could get a 33+ on your ACT it’d probably help you (and you’re on par to get a 34). After a certain SAT score, you’re pretty close to the same as everyone else. A score +/- 30 points isn’t likely to make or break you. You’re at the point where if you can compel an admissions officer with your essays, your ECs and letters of rec, you’ve got a chance to pretty much any of your schools.

First you ask if you should retake, then you say you don’t want to retake the SAT I… contradictory much?

Don’t retake the SAT… you’ve already taken it 3 times and any more than that starts to look bad.

Definitely take the ACT and see how do on it… many kids find it easier than the SAT (myself included). If you do better on it, that’s great, but if not, that’s not bad either. Your low CR score (by Yale’s standards, anyways) is a killer, though…

After three testings, it’s very unlikely you’ll see much change, assuming you studied for the first three. Unless you think you can do something significantly different this time around, just try the ACT.

alrite. thanks guys. Btw, do u think schools might reject me for my cr score? (even though my math and writing scores are pretty high?)

They won’t exactly look at your CR score and instantly reject you, but it definitely won’t help. 630 is well below Yale’s median CR score, and, if you’re an unhooked applicant, you’re gonna want to at least get into the 700s on that section.

Shoot for a 34 on the ACT (it sounds like you’re already on your way to getting that with your practice test scores anyways).

Those are good scores, and the unbalance shouldn’t hurt you too much, but are you applying to any safety schools? I’m not trying to insult you, but none of these schools that you listed are matches/safeties for anyone.

haha. yeah. the schools that i listed are my reach schools. I have safety schools. Thnx for your reply though :)
