Please let me know where I stand. I am not going to be applying for any Financial Aid. I wish to go to a school with a strong Liberal Arts Curriculum. Any suggestions?

You need to make a chart with some of the following criteria-List about 15-20 colleges

Public/Private
Urban/Rural
Size
Acceptance rate
Mid 50 percentile SAT score of accepted students, Class of 2016
Tuition fee
Application deadline
Number of essays required
Scale of Importance given to grades, ECs,Essays,Rigor,SAT scores,Class rank

And any other parameter that you would like to consider. All the info is available on the web and once you do this exercise you will be able to judge for yourself. And you can add/delete colleges to the list as you get along and you should be able to come up with a list of colleges that would be your matches. Ideally one should have 20% dream colleges, 60% matches and 20% safeties in your final list that you will be applying to.

Well, I do have a tentative list of few colleges:

U Penn
USC
NYU
Carnegie Mellon
Tufts
UC Berkeley
Brandeis

What do you think my chances are? What improvements can I make to my application?

Sent from my GT-I9000 using CC

Hey I am going o be very Frank with you on this. Chance threads do not serve any purpose other than momentary ego pampering. And nobody can tell you for sure. But if you do the exercise and put your own achievements against those, you will have a fairly good idea.

You already are on your way with good SAT scores, decent grades, and ECs.

I would advise you to start thinking of your essays, start writing the first draft. Deciding the topic and proofreading and finalising takes a while.

And try to use the coming summer with a useful internship related to your program in some way. Always strengthens your case.

Also LORs, help your teachers write a meaningful LOR by giving them a single page snapshot of your achievements. And the teachers who will be writing your LORs should preferably the ones related to your program (Subjects).
