Seeing as you are a slight international student, there are always ways to get around the requirements. It’s like if you have a bad GPA but you test well or you have awesome recommendation letters - they help.

Colleges, maybe not the top ones, want to see that you are willing to work hard and succeed. For some people, that means that they won’t do well on tests but they know their stuff.

Also, another option - the ACT is now accepted at every college in the United States. I would maybe try that - it’s a little easier I’ve heard.

I would also recommend contacting College Platsburgh and seeing if you can get a connection with an admissions counselor and ask them the same questions you have asked us.

I wish you luck!

The bottom line is that a requirement is a requirement. You hurt your chances greatly by not meeting even the minimum. I would suggest getting a tutor, or if you are feeling brave get a Kaplan book to up your score. Upping your vocabulary using flashcards can offer major boosts, and there really is no substitute to practicing the test -the more times you take it the better you get. Now I’m not saying take the actual test twenty times, but practice out of a collegeboard book or something a few times. It’s hard, annoying, time-consuming, and mind-numbing, but so is college.

thats accactly what im doing right now…
but i think sat isnt everything!!!its just not right,
lets say there is a cheaters, u cannot promise them enter a college because one test!!!
its not fair, im passing good all my regents, but this stupid sat f***ing me!!!
i dont know what to do!!!how can a new student that came a year ago fro another country preform as good as someone who was born into this lenguage!!!
im sure that they concidering the fact that the english is an issue (for now)
and they wont be so hard on me…
but thats my opinion…and my guidance counslors!!!
what do u think???
what are the primary things that colleges looking at???

You need to talk with your guidance counselor and with your ESL teacher. They will have good ideas for you. You also should visit this college and talk with the admissions counselor. That person can tell you whether or not the requirements are the same for you, or if they are different because you are still learning English.

Ask at Plattsburg if you can take the TOEFL instead of the SAT.
