Chillax dude(or dudette)! Its not like college matters or anything!

"I don't think the OP should calm down, typos are a very serious issue these days! In fact, I know a dude who was sent to jail as a repeat offender for a 2nd degree typo."
-------Nice! lol

I seriously doubt the admissions group will ever reject a student solely because they read a SMALL mistake as this one. That said, if the rest of your essays are clean and excellent (grammatically), I would assume most, if not all, readers will treat this as a common mistake, not as careless.

I think that colleges would be more concerned about admitting a person who panics over a small mistake like a typo than they would be concerned about admitting someone who makes a very human, ordinary mistake like a typo. Really, the typo is no big deal. Even I had to read your sentence several times before spotting it. Admissions officers aren't trying to be copy editors, but are reading essays to learn about students' character and writing abilities.

I strongly recommend against sending in a corrected version with a note. This is the kind of typo that some people won't even notice, especially if it's the only one in the essay. You don't want to draw attention to it.

Trust me, they'll have plenty of essays to deal with that have actually grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.

It's absolutely no big deal. Try to clam down. I think your anxiety is the biggest problem here.

I spelled a number of things wrong (aferlife instead of afterlife... starring instead of staring.. and about three others) and I got into UChicago-- a school that focuses on the essay above all else.

You're making way too big a deal about this, I thought it was a troll post when I first saw it. Chill out.

yeah....I made a couple of typos....Many people read my essay, didn't find anything. I found the mistake a week before the decisions and got in. I sent my financial aid document a week after the deadline, made a big mistake while filling the common app ...which I corrected later by sending them the email.......but I still got in..So, please calm down....Pleaseeeeeeeee.

WHat kind of mistake did you make on your Common App?
I know that I have a typo extending a one week program to 5 weeks(I told them it was one wek, though) and accidentally I wrote member of Club team on the Comapp and Leader of club team on the EC list.
This got to Harvard

DO you guys think I should correct that or will they assume that these were just administration errors not affecting anything I could do on their campus?

On one of my apps, I accidentally put I was born in Sudan (it was a drop-down list, right next to my real country). :) Ofcourse I sent them an e-mail to correct it. Was rejected anyway. haha
