Please Chance Me!

You actually seem pretty well rounded (and judging form your previous posts…stressed by the prospect of applying to a prgoram such as tams). My friends have gone to TAMS with similar stats (though Im not sure of what their SAT scores were). Now, let’s be honest: your SAT score seems pretty low and in considering that TAMS is the equivalent to two years of COLLEGE, you’d have to have a score competitive with entering college freshman. This is me being nit picky (after all, this IS college confidential). Other than that you seem like a very strong applicant, just raise the SAT score (650-700’s+; Im not sure of what the ACTUAL statistics are but judging from other “chance me”-ers such as yourself, it just might be up there.
Best Wishes!

You should have a chance.

Thanks for the reply. Been waiting for someone to. My score is now in the 1800’s, trying to get at least a 1900 by November. Not sure if this is an achievable feat but will do my best…
Again, thank you for the reply !

Thanks for the reply!
Anymore advice?

Your resume looks as if you juggle too many activities? How do you manage to achieve anything in all of those extracurriculars?

At my school (3A Division), sports isn’t really emphasized, so I don’t spend too much time for that. Boy Scouts, FBLA, and SADD are once a week. A few of the other organizations are within my place of prayer which I’m involved in. It’s really a ton of time management and sleeping only 4-5 hours every night.

Bump please reply!

Bump… please guys??

My daughter got into TAMS this year. Based on my knowledge, which is not much, I will give you the following information: My daughter got 2100 in SAT and she was waitlisted before she got in. As a boy, it is more competitive. You have too many EC. These will not help you much. You have participated in science fairs. These are good. What is your school ranking? Your scores for math is not high. I was told this year they pick students based on their algebra grades. How to improve your chance: 1. Involve in research (it maybe too late now); 2. Pull up your math grade to show you can handle college math courses; 3. Improve your SAT score to over 2000. I will suggest you cut back on EC, spend time on SAT blue book. Work on a set of test every Saturday morning with actual time limit. Get use to the test’s pace and vigorous. Good Luck.

Thanks for the reply. I have been working on my SAT and now am around 1950-2000 range. I also just completed the first quarter at school and I received a 99 in Alg 2 for the quarter. Thanks for the advice.

You got this, just keep workin man.

Received an 1840 on the SAT (Nov.)
Also for Q1 of 10th grade, All A’s with a 99 in Alg. 2.
Anyone?

got the interview!!:)

Can someone that has been to a interview day explain to me more about the questions and how the math tests are? Plus it would be helpful if you can tell me how TAMS accepts people at the point of interview day and further? Thank you so much, any help is greatly appreciated!!

Well, saw this post and I hope that I’m not too late on this. (I applied for early admission, so I’m not sure when your test and interview dates are)
Anyway, the math questions are almost exactly like the ones online. You will probably have enough time to finish. Then you have the interview, which is about five questions or so that they ask you and five or so others (they change who goes first each time). You should definitely wear formal clothes. Then they ask you to fill out a easy survey. Race doesn’t matter, but of you’re from Plano it will be a lot harder to get in than from west texas or other places with few applicants. After about half a month or so, the results come in. I would advise you to ask questions after the interview (decent questions that wouldn’t make you sound like you aren’t prepared for the rigor of TAMS life and studies). I would also follow interview customs such as thank you letter (or as I did, email) to your interviewers and probably dean and admissions. One other thing- I found it helped to listen to the first answer to a question and then, while the others answer the interview question, think about your answer. Some more on stats: your math doesn’t seem to be all that well, and your SAT is, if I’m correct, under average. It’s probably too late for that now, since almost everyone has A’s in math (but you know, Alg. II is definitely better than Geom right now), so I would try to get good at factoring and quadratics and probably log and exponent rules too (remember, no calc.)-. Good Luck!

Way to late buddy
