Hi CC,
I was deferred to PLME- what do I do?

Here are stats Brown has that you may not: 4.0 UW (junior year), 34 composite ACT, no rank
I lost my 4.0 to physics this semester and now only have a 3.946. will this factor into Alpert’s evaluation of me too heavily?

Subject test scores that Brown doesn’t have: 690 bio, 680 chem, 780 math II. I definitely want to send my math score, but sending just one probably looks bad–they’ll probably know I’m trying to hide more.

I plan on sending a passionate letter of intent, telling them how much a student like me would benefit from a guaranteed spot in medical school, etc… Should I send this to Brown or the Alpert School of Medicine?
Will an additional science recommendation help?

thanks guys. :)

i don’t really know why you’re so concerned about your GPA when your SAT IIs is what you should be worried about

and if physics (which is a science) brought down your grade, isnt that a little weird?

anyway, did you get into Brown or deferred from that too? I think that’s an important factor in deciding where to send your extra rec letter

There’s nothing i can do about my subject test scores, which are optional in the first place. I decided to send my math and pretend the others don’t exist.

And no it’s not weird because more than half of my class got Bs in physics. Long story short, it’s a required class that is far too difficult for anything I will ever need as a pre-med, and my GC will explain the situation with physics in my mid year report.

I was accepted to Brown. I called the admissions office and a PLME admissions officer said that I should send additional materials to Brown’s undergraduate admissions office.

I guess since I answered my own questions by asking RL friends and calling Brown, unless anyone has additional advice, I’ll let the board die.
