Anyone notice that they changed the early decision policy this year? I swear there used to be an option where you could apply early and if you only got into the college and not the med program you could back out of early decision…I checked today and it seems to have changed?
It does look like it changed. PLME applicants go through two stages in the admission process. First they are admitted (or not) to Brown, and then the admitted students who are applying to PLME go through PLME admissions process. In past years, students who applied ED to Brown with PLME could indicate on the application whether they wanted to keep the ED acceptance to Brown even if rejected by PLME. Now the following indicates that students accepted ED but rejected by PLME are still bound to Brown ED.

That is an interesting change in policy. Considering how confused students have been on here about the previous iteration, this may make things simpler. If you don’t want to go to Brown if you aren’t admitted to PLME, you just can’t apply ED now.
Not too surprising. Brown wants students who want to go to Brown, and not students who only want to go because of PLME.
It will be interesting to see how - if at all - the admissions stats change for the program given this shift.
