Plug in room fresheners?

Not sure if anyone will have a solid answer on this or not, but i figured i'd ask. Does anyone know if Ohio University permits plug in room air fresheners, like B&BW "wallflowers" kind of things? I know you can't have candles, burning incense, and stuff like that but I could see why they would ban wallflowers too (fire hazard, scent could get out of hand with allergy sufferers, etc.) My roomie and I wanted to get one to make the dorm smell more "homey" but we also want to be sure we won't get in trouble for having them!!

Check the housing page or email your housing director. Best way to get accurate and speedy answers.

They’re probably fine. They aren’t prone to start things on fire and burn your entire dorm down like candles and incense. Also, the likelihood of anyone caring are also very low, even if they aren’t allowed. Room inspections are usually cursory, and unless you cause a problem, no one is likely to give you trouble. My freshman year I cooked half my meals in a contraband electric kettle and no one cared.

Even if they are allowed, you are probably not going to be able to waste a power outlet on one. Most dorm rooms have very few outlets, and it’s tough to put an air freshener on a power strip because most of them need to be upright.

My dorm room had more outlets than I knew what to do with. Probably because it was a new building…
But power strips and extension cords are still your friends.
