Hi, guys. I am considering Duke as ED choice.
I am an international student from China but not in those most competitive schools.

SAT:2270 with R740, M800, W730. (I took only one time)
SAT II: Math Level 2, 800; Physics 780
TOEFL:115 with R30,L28,S27,W30
GPA for the freshman year (in a traditional high school):90/100
I am studying IB program; my current score is 40/42 and my expected will very likely to be 43or44 out of 45.

Ps, high school in China is 3 years long

Extra curricular:

  1. Basketball varsity and captain 9-12
  2. Vice president of School broadcast 10-12
  3. One year experience in student council 10
  4. Intern at the biggest investment bank in China 10-12
  5. Founded an organization to promote rural finance and related education in China 11-12
  6. Columbia High School Program to study The intro to Business, Finance and Economics 10 Summer
  7. Participated in an investing program on a big-data analysis firm (getting a recommendation letter from a prestigious professor in America for this) 12 Summer
  8. Volunteer at an aid-education organization.

Excellent Student in school
1st prize of state English listening competition
Adidas High School Basketball League: One national 1st prize, one state 1st prize and one state 2nd prize
1st prize in a city-scale business competition

Duke is really my favorable choice and I am extremely interested in finance so I probably will apply Economics or statistics science with finance minor.

Hi - Its really difficult to judge your chances without seeing how to stand up to other students from china. As you know the number of applications from China has been increasing rapidly over the last few years. I know that the Duke admissions team has setup a special process by which applications from China are interviewed. For details see here:

One thing to keep in mind is that it has your SAT scores and writing ability will be scrutinized as an international. Good luck
