I know no one really knows, but any thoughts about my chances to get into these colleges...

Columbia
Vanderbilt
UPenn wharton (brother goes there, so i got legacy)
Johns Hopkins
Dartmouth
Tulane
Duke
U of M (i'm being considered as in-state for u of m)
NYU Stern

any response is much appreciated =)

bump...cmonn guyss..

did you send a music CD to any of your schools? as a violist you are pretty desired, but i think they only really care if you send the music departments things (Resumes, CD, priv. teacher rec.)? i'm not exactly sure, like 70% sure.

I don't believe siblings are counted as legacy. Legacy admissions bonuses are used as an incentive for alumni to donate.

But!
I'd say good chance at all of your reachish schools, and in for NYU/UM/Tulane

siblings =/= legacy...sorry. But you have a good chance anyway.

Columbia: 50%
Vanderbilt: In
UPenn wharton (brother goes there, so i got legacy): 40%
Johns Hopkins: 65%, good chance in
Dartmouth: 50%
Tulane: In w/ money
Duke: 55%, solid shot
U of M (i'm being considered as in-state for u of m): In
NYU Stern: In

hey guys thanks a lot for the comments =)

are u sure that sibling legacy doesnt count for penn? cause some part of the app asked for names of parents, grandparents, and siblings that have attended the university

oh yes also i sent in a music resume, but considering that i'm not planning on majoring in music, i decided not to send in a CD

Sibling doesn't matter.

NYU Stern: In

Um, no, apparently you dont know the competitiveness of Stern. It's as hard to get into as Harvard, Yale, or Princeton. It's actually more selective than HYP if you look in term of SAT scores, which for NYU the cutoff usually is around 2100 flat, while Princeton still accepts a decent amount of super-low-scoring 1500s-1800s/2400 and same with the other two.

I'd say Stern is a reach simply because of the 'relatively low' SAT score in comparison to multiple 2300's being denied regularely, but good EC's should bring it up to a low-reach I'd say. Prob 60% chance.
