Plz help my college search!

Hi! I
m currently a junior right now but I want to get a general list of schools that I
m going to look into. I
ve got a couple I like so far, if anyone can make any other suggestions that would be great.
I
m a japanese student living in abroad(not in japan), and I am currently going to an american system internationals school. My current GPA is about a 3.8 weighted, but I transferred into my international school at the very very end of sophmore yr so its a bit low(this might sound like an excuse!) I havent taken any standarized tests yet so I know it`ll be hard to recommend certain schools without stats, but if you could suggest anyother schools I should do more reaserach on, that would be awesome!!
Some things about my preference:

  1. Im not too picky when it comes to geographical location... as long as its not too remote, I truly do not mind whethere it be in California or Massachusets. I ve lived in 3 totally different countries in the past so I dont think I ll have trouble adjusting.
  2. I don` t need finiancial aid at all but I would like to avoid schools like GWU with a huge price tag.

I dont mind it being private or public

I know
name
or
prestige
shouldnt be that much of an issue, but I would like to go to a school that is widely recognized

I` m into science, and am planning on going into the medical field. I know very few international students get into med school or vet school...but I seriously want to go into that field.

Here are the schools I am currently looking at: 1. Rice Universitiy *my top choice . The price is reasonable, its widely recognized, strong in the science programs especially for med school I believe. I like the small classes there.

  1. Harvey Mudd

  2. probably my second choice.. its all concentrated in the sciences, with a good biology major. I like how you can take classes at other nearby schools ( I think Claremont..right? )
BUT! I think I saw in one book that the schools retention rate is like 70%, which seems quite low....

Rutgers
*I belive they have a very good medical program there.

Smith College

My teacher recommended this to me, said it had a great science program. I dont really mind it being a womans college.

McGill, Queens, University of Toronto

All are good in sciences, very cheap compared to U.S schools. I
ll probably be applying to these canadian schools as well.

If anyone could suggest any other schools that would be great!! If you could tell me any schools which are highly competitive and some schools which are not( as in, safety) that would help me out alot!

U. of Rochester and Emory have a lot in common with Rice.
If you are considering Smith, you might also look at Wellesley.
If you are considering Harvey Mudd, you might also look at Pomona, and maybe Scripps.
Are you considering combined BA/MD programs? You could then try Brown, Northwestern and a whole bunch of other schools (look in the combined degree forum).

Maybe also Dartmouth - it is similar to Rice in many ways (lots of research and small, undergrad focused student body)
Yale has a residential college system like Rice.
Neither are cheap though, unfortunately.
Maybe a school like SUNY Geneseo - it's smaller than most public universities, but is suppossedly quite nice. I have a friend there who loves it.
