<p>I have a 1270 SAT and OK grades in the most challenging courses offered at my school. But my Extra Curricular and Activities Suck.</p>
<p>For PSU-main campus they asked </p>
<p>Please choose one of the commitments that you listed in the Activities section (activity, interest, or work experience) and provide a short description of its importance to you. Include why that commitment could be relevant to your student experience at Penn State</p>
<p>the only things I listed were </p>
<p>9th Basketball
10th-Baseball
11thBasketball
12thBasketball</p>
<p>9th Chess Club</p>
<p>and I also did 25 hours of Volunteer work from 10th to 11th for my Catholic Confirmation. But no Jobs or other stuff. </p>
<p>Basically I blame my school for not having very many clubs and sports etc.</p>
<p>For example there is no Tennis,Soccer or Men's Volleyball, or Newspaper. Only 140 kids with the majority of them consisting of Redneck Nascar fans. </p>
<p>So I was wondering what the heck I should write about. would it be acceptable if I veered off topic and wrote How and why my school doesn't have a newspaper.</p>
<p>Basically in 10th grade my school did have a Newspaper Class where you got graded and crap. But the teacher for that left and In my 11th grade year it was not a Class (the guidance counsler said it was because there was not enough interest or whatever) But for whatever reason the newspaper class was not started. Then another teacher tried to start a newspaper with just people staying After, but that Didn't work out because there was only like 15 people that showed up and only about 4 of us were even milidly good at writing. So there was no Freaking Newspaper. and my hopes of writing an Article every couple Weeks was crushed. I really really did want to write for the Newspaper and I remember in 10th grade just like daydreaming about what I am going to write about when I take the Newspaper class that was supposed to be offered to me. I don't really let it bother me but just looking back I feel like a good part of my High School experience was crushed by there being no school Newspaper. And my English Teachers have said that I am really good at writing as well</p>
<p>So do you think Penn state main campus would except me if I wrote basically that talking about how I wanted to do Newspaper and I am interested in PSU because they have so many activities that I was deprived of. </p>
<p>Should I just write about my Dissapointment of there not being a Newspaper.</p>
<p>the question used the work "commitement twice" and I think I don't really have the type of commitement that they were really looking for. Since I didn't play basketball in 10th grade because I think I wasn't good enough and I was out of shape. but that summer I lifted weights almost Daily and my physiec got better. I still wasn't very good, and I didn't letter but I at least felt better about myself. The thing is that in 7th and 8th Grade I played Football, Basketball And Baseball so I was doing sports year-round. But once I got to High-School I guess I sort of just didn't tryout for the Baseball and to play football we have to take a bus 40 minutes away to play. But If we had some other team at my school like Tennis or Volleyball I guaranteed I would have been a freaking Starter. </p>
<p>So that's my Dilema, I would Really Really Really appreciate any HELP or suggestions on what to write about for my Application.</p>
<p>And The Activities and Essay section are also Optional for PSU so If you think I should just not write one do you think I would still get Into the Main Campus based soley on my Good Sat Grade. Note the average SAT is like an 1120 I believe. so do you think I would get in if i left those sections blank.</p>
<p>OR do you think If I wrote an honest essay on my troubles do you think they would REJECT me Just because I don't have very many commitements. </p>
<p>Could you please Help. I hope I didn't write too much, I'm just sort of desperate on what to do??????? :(</p>
