At orientation they seemed to encourage us to set up a PNC bank account. Is that really neccessary?

We opened a PNC account for S at orientation - after 3 years, we’ve barely used it. I add Lion Cash for him from home, so he only uses it occasionally to get cash. Ohters may use it more, but at least for us, it definitely wasn’t necessary.

I’m a junior at PSU and i stuck with my local bank. The only real disadvantage i’ve experienced is having to pay the small surcharge to withdraw cash at the ATMs on campus.

We did not set up a PNC account for our daughter. Instead we stayed with our hometown bank, Fulton Bank. They have an ATM downtown across from The Deli, and it has not been inconvenent at all.

Does Bank Of America have an ATM on campus or in state college?

No.

Thanks everyone for the info. - it was helpful. Sounds like it will be ok if we don’t open a new acct. with PNC. We can always change later if it becomes a problem. I didn’t really want to change- so that’s good news.
