Poetry in Essay?

Hi there everyone - I have quick question about the primary essay. I’d rather not go into great detail on what I’m planning to write about – suffice it to say I think it’s a rather original way to use one of the prompts in answering the question. What I’m wondering is if including an original poem as a part of the essay would be acceptable. Of course, I wouldn’t use just any poem - this particular poem has won several awards (not at all trying to be a braggart - just want to make it clear that this wasn’t just an English assignment or randomly written poem). The poem does relate perfectly to the message I’m trying to convey in my response as a whole. In terms of word count, the poem is only 93 words, so that’s not much of a concern. In essence: would it be a bad idea to include a poem as part of my response? Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long explanation!

Hi 201698, I’ve heard on this forum that doing poetry is just gimmicky, but I think if you add it onto the end of our essay, it could work perfectly!
