I imagine that the Pogue is like the Banneker at UMD. The Banneker was originally open only to URM's, but was forced open to all, by court challenge. That being said, I think they still try to give as many as possible to URM's. If you're a URM, I think you have a great chance. Good Luck.

I'm an IS finalist And new to the thread obviously there are three finalists in my school and since there are only 45 overall I kind of worry about just compeating with the kids from my school much less a ton of other people. And Does anyone know how they're doing the rooming arrangements at the Carolina Inn?

Academic achievement was the chief selection criterion for 126 of the merit awards; solid academic records and strong commitment to community service were the criteria for the 23 Pogue Scholarships.

That's from a press release Carolina did about last year's scholarships which makes it sound like they give 23 not just 5 Pogue scholarships...

Ok so I take it back, I found a document done by collegeboard which says they give out 22 IS Pogues and 5 OOS

Hmmmm Here comes Sunday! Hope you're all ready for the interviews ^.^

I'm making some last minute wardrobe decisions, and am looking for some input. For any girls going, are you wearing sweaters to the interview or dress shirts? And, is a jacket required for girls? Thanks

It's chilly (teens) around here...wear warm clothes y'all :)

I'm wearing pin striped dress pants with a white dress shirt and a matching pin striped jacket but I think it's entirely up to you and what you consider formal wear. It's not toooooo cold, especially for OOS'ers from up north but I'd definately bring a jacket.

i am bringing just a simple black suit

I'm here, sitting in my room with a bed that has 7 pillows on it... It's amazing.

So 7 people from the facebook group have gotten the scholarship. One was rejected and one was waitlisted. That leaves 40 more people to find out including myself...

Thanks for the update! Good luck!!!

So who got the Pogue? Congrats, guys!!! : )

does the Pogue cover the laptop???

and room and board means the dorm and meals, right??

If you get waitlisted, do you get the Pogue if one of the recipients turns it down? Just wondering: )

I'm pretty sure you can get it if someone turns it down if you're on the waitlist. And the computer grant covers the laptop but the Pogue isn't really specific about what it covers.

Thanks, RLAJen07!

I got it! Which makes me happy because I get a tuition grant from my school (NCSSM) for graduating so the Pogue makes it basically free to go to Chapel Hill!

I got it!! Out of state!! :-D

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GetOuttaBuffalo, will you definitely be at UNC-CH next year? Awesome!!! Congrats to you because I know you really wanted/needed this!
