I’m a senior wanting to go into biology.
I heard a lot about PLNU. The location is beautiful and apparently they have a good medical program.
But the only think that concerns me is the mandatory church services each week. As a Buddhist, I was wondering how lenient they are with other religions?
I don’t really see why people would go if they aren’t christian, honestly, but it really depends on how you feel about it. Mandatory chapel services are 3 times a week and you can see how strict the influence is when you sign the community living agreement. I’m a strong christian but it seems a little much. If you’re looking for a beautiful location, Pepperdine in Malibu is also christian but less than PLNU for sure.
I think they will see you as a curiosity and try to convert you. Definitely not “live and let live.” I think you’ll probably always feel on the defensive.
Anyway as a Buddhist you wouldn’t be able to sign the statement of faith.
SDSU, Cal Poly SLO, UCSC, LMU-LA, Pitzer also have beautiful campuses.
Do you live in California?
Thanks for all the replies.
I decided not to apply to PLNU after they visited my school back in October, and I figured it’s not the school for me.
I appreciate the responses regardless.
@MYOS1634
I do live in California. And I’ve decided to apply to schools like Redlands, Occidental, SDSU, and Chico instead.
