Hey guys any of u have had a severe case of poison ivy this summer or anytime before?

I got mine two weeks ago and its killing me, first my face swelled up so bad i could barely see, then it spread to my neck and as soon as my face seemed to clear up, it spread to my chest and stomach and arms.

THis is horrible, anybody feel my pain? THis is ruining my summer cause i cant go anywhere until it reasonably clears up and it makes me look horrid.

Anyone know why the poison ivy keeps spreading to others areas even when other parts seem to clear up and how long does it spread for???

It's cause you keep touching those other parts!! STOP TOUCHING YOURSELF! That sounds dirty, but seriously...

There was an article in the paper just this morning about how global warming is making poison ivy worse. Check out the Columbus Dispatch if you wish to know more!

yeah, i had a really bad case of poison ivy-- it was all over my legs and still hasn't gone away after a week and a half... then two days ago I had an allergic reaction to something (likely the stuff I was putting on the poison ivy) and my eyes and face swelled up, thoguh thankfully I could still see-- I just looked slightly asian...

I've been using visine for the eyes, which are almost fully healed, and benadryl and claratin for the legs as well as calagel to dry them out (they used to be weeping, now they're crusting over.

I would advise seeing a doctor if your reaction was that bad. My mother scheduled me for an appt. later this week.

I got it during the June SATs. IT SUCKED. I get it at least once a year, I am extremely allergic so I will tell you what I do.

I cut my nails and constantly sit on my hands whenever possible. When I go to sleep I either sleep on my hands or wrap them up in my blanket. That will stop you from scratching in your sleep. Basically you just need to have the will power to not scratch it under any circumstances. Also, you can go to the doctors and get some legal steroid pills that will wipe that bad boy out in about a week.

Thanks dank08 for the tips/suggestions. Anybody have any more suggestions on how to prevent urself from scratching?

Tips for avoiding Poison Ivy: Three Leaves, Red tinges on the leaves, always be on the lookout. I'm pretty paranoid.

i've never had poison ivy. huzzah! =)

I used it as a weapon when I was a kid. Put it on a stick and poked people's arm and legs. The result was (not) hilarious.
