Poison IVY sucks !@$!!!

UGHH!!

i have poison ivy all over my leg. it's.......ANNOYING LIKE H*LL!

i don't even know how i got it! i don't recall walking through any woods or anything, or any densely populated plant area, but regardless of how i got it, it's uncontrollable! the skin on my legs is sensitive, so any slight disturbance causes such ANNOYING irritations on the affected areas that i just can't take it anymore!

i've had it for 2-3 days now, and it spread like wildfire over my leg. last night, i woke up crying because if i shift over in my bed, my leg rubs against the bed, and there goes the irritation again. i had to run downstairs 4 in the morning when the irritations began and apply ice all over my leg (it was a RELIEF after i did that, i let out a long sigh of relief when the irritations slowed down rapidly), and i begged my dad, who was awake, to take me to the doctors in the morning. i had to beg because normally my parents like to make up other excuses for physical health problems (when my brother had strep throat, my mom insisted it was a SORE throat. but when he got it checked by the doctor, the doctor had to prescribe 500 mg of penicilin! my mom also disregarded my poison ivy as skin irritation from shaving MY LEGS! YEAH RIGHT MOM!!!)

i didn't go to the doctor's today (friday) though because his schedule was full, but i'm going tomorrow (saturday) at 11 am to get an injection and get a prescription to deal with this problem! but i'm happy this problem didn't get further delayed due to my parents excuses, and im actually GOING to the doctor's!

on the other hand, the poison ivy is also starting to spread on my hands- LOVELY!

but i'm so afraid of sleeping tonight on account of...the irritation

jeez, i friggin HATE poison ivy

ok..my rant is over, thanks for reading...lol ><

and then what happened?

Avoid Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Columbia, Brown, UPenn, Dartmouth & Cornell for the rest of your life.

Maybe you don't have poison ivy, rather, a form of hives caused by an allergic reaction to a food you ate or something? That's what happened to me when I ate 11 slices of pizza at school a year ago. It was hell for a couple days.

^ my mom says that my dad's side of the family has this problem where sometimes they can't digest fish or beef properly..

and no, i'm not avoiding all the ivies..lol

well, i fell asleep, and my sleep wasn't uncomfortable, but, as expected, the poison ivy got worse and my leg feels swollen and fat..

and taking showers has become a tedious task too..

ugh ><

Go to the drugstore and buy benadryl spray. now. It is a lifesaver. It basically puts a coat over the rash, and the itching stops. I used this stuff nonstop when I had various rashes caused by allergic reactions to everyday preservatives and when I had poison ivy.

I feel your pain though; I remember when I was in 6th grade I had it ALL OVER - my face, arms, legs- and my mom made me go to school. It was hell.
My brother has poison ivy now, and I'm avoiding everything he touches like the plague.

If I get poison ivy, I have trouble breathing and my entire body becomes covered in hives that last for the duration of the poison ivy rash (which is usually a few weeks).

It's hell.

Be glad you just have the "normal" reaction.

Also, Benadryl spray really does work, as do a lot of antihistamine creams. Benadryl tablets didn't do much for me, but they don't seem to affect me in general (Oral diphenhydramine doesn't seem to make me sleepy or reduce any kind of histamine reaction, ever, not just poison ivy. It just makes my mouth all dry.)

Cover yourself in mayonaise, it works for everything.

Is mayonnaise and intsrument?

Ouch, I noticed I recieved posion ivy once from paintballing. I've had it before so i put some hand sanitizer all over it. Hurt sooo good rubbing that stuff over it, but the next day my rash was small and contained :D!!

I feel for you. My daughter reacts very badly to poison ivy so after several years of experience treating her our doc gives her steroids immediately. She was away once and the locum wanted to try 'other treatments' first so she suffered until our doc got back. My husband reacts badly also. My son and i have either never been exposed or are not allergic - yay!

@ IlDesi, No Patrick, Mayonaise is not an instrument.....Horseradish is not an instrument either.

i got medications from the doctor's...

i have to take 6 pills a day (3 in the morning and 3 at night) for 3 days, then take 4 pills a day (2 in the morning and 2 at night) for 4 days-- all for a total of 7 days..

then i have to apply this liquid to all infected areas.

i wish i knew of all of these household ways before i actually went to the doctor's, but yeah lol

thanks for reading my story~
