Haha I used to play the TCG and the video game.

I miss the fighting the Elite Four for the first time in R/B. And catching Mewtwo…that made me feel so epic. Using missingno to clone master balls…

Gold/Silver - going through the tower to catch Ho-Oh. And chasing Suicune in crystal.

Sapphire - the constant raining from Kyogre everywhere, and figuring out whirlpools

Diamond - the amazing kiddy feeling of pokemon kinda disappeared by now…since I was in high school and stuff. but I played competitively on smogon :)

When I caught a level 30 Dugtrio early in Diglett’s Cave and just **ed up from there.

The first time I played Pokemon Red: I only had one Pokemon when I reached the Elite Four and that was my Blastoise. It took me like a THOUSAND tries to beat Lance.

game boy colorrrrrrrrrr! haha i remember I had a gb color for forever, and then someone showed me a DS … yes I was a hard core, original pokemon red/blue player.

It blew my mind when I found out you didn’t have to have cable link cords anymore.

Gold, Silver, and Crystal were IMO the best versions. Such a great variety of new pokemon, storyline, and adventure-ability.

Of course, that is not to count out the originals - Red, Yellow, and Blue - which were epic in their own time. Those 6 versions were something truly amazing.

After that though, it all gets muddled. With all these newer versions and additional pokemon that are created simply for aesthetics, it just feels as though the old magical feeling is gone. Such a shame for the newer generations.

But, in the end, all that matters is that Pokemon is forever =D

i only learned how to catch pokemon like three gyms in through my first game, yellow… so i had to train pikachu forever to learn slam to beat brock… gooood times

So… Who else still has a shoebox of pokemon cards stashed in their closet lol?

Man, I miss pokemon. So much. The show, the games, the cards. I miss Ash, Misty, and Brock. I miss pikachu, and I miss ‘I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was!’ I miss rapidly pressing B when the pokemon is fighting being captured by the pokeball, even though it didn’t help at all.

And I miss still freaking playing the game, literally months after already having beaten the elite four, just trying to fill up that pokedex, and trying to finish that slowwwww crawl to lvl 99 on your favorite three pokemon.

I got Pokemon Gold. I became obsessed with it. Ten years later, I am now smarter and am playing HeartGold. I now realize that Bulbapedia is the best site on the internet (sorry CC).

And have you heard?: Black and White will only contain Generation V Pokemon until the acquisition of the national Pokedex. The developers want gamers to have that “new” feeling.

I LOVE POKEMON! I have every version of Pokemon to ever come out except green version (Japanese only) and chaos black(non-legit). Does anyone posting keep up with the current competitive metagame? If so, explain to me how Salamence got placed in ubers. Garchomp>Salamence in almost every way. Btw I used to love to collect pokemon cards. Lol but I only kept the rares and shinies, gave the rest to my bro.

^I haven’t played competitively in over a year, so I hadn’t heard salamence was an uber. Was this smogon’s decision? Yes garchomp > salamence, but garchomp is uber as well, so it doesn’t really matter. Pokemon are generally categorized as ubers if they have extremely high base stats or if no pokemon can safely switch out and go to a counter (which is how wobbuffet became an uber).

Salamence was banished to ubers because of his massive presence in the OU metagame. He had a one turn set up, after which he could shred through the opponent’s team with Outrage. Like you mentioned, this made him very difficult to counter.

Now that Mence is gone, Scizor is going to be dethroned for the first time since he got Bullet Punch.

My first game was ruby. I got my Sceptile to about level 80 when my friend’s brother released it. I got so mad that for some reason I caught a level 16 Numel and trained it exclusively. It eventually passed all my other pokemon and became my strongest one. I got it to level 100 and it was the best feeling ever. I then got another ruby and traded a treecko to my original game. I trained it to level 100 as well. I’ll never forget my first team: Camerupt, Sceptile, Crobat, Salamence, and two Rayquazas. I later got emerald, sapphire, firered, silver, diamond, and heart gold. I also had thousands of cards although i never learned how to play the right way. I watched the first 3 generations of the show and the first 7 movies.

I played Pokemon red and nearly died from excitement when I caught a pidgy.
My best friend at the time and I played pokemon every day at recess. He was Ash I was misty
I have every Pokemon handbook. Jut period because I keep buying them out of nostalgia.
I miss them ok? I had a charizard, and named it after my dog-- and spelled it wrong. <3
And POKESHIPPING.
Ok I don’t need nostalgia I’m bad at letting go

I had all of the generations RYB to BW, but I don’t know where a lot of them are now. Thankfully I still have my emerald- I have over 230 hours clocked on that thing (yes, a good chunk of my free time was spent on playing Pokemon until about 7th grade).

I still have my first pokemon- venusaur from leaf green. Transferred it to diamond then to heart gold (which is apparently like 2 generations behind, idk it’s been 2 years since I touched a pokemon game haha)
