I was accepted early to SFS and am really excited since it's my top choice. However, as stupid as this sounds, one of my biggest fears about Georgetown is that it will be ultra-conservative. I've heard mixed things about it from a variety of people. I was hoping someone could provide some insight - I'm scared that I'm going to be surrounded by a sea of Republicans for the next for years.

Well, it is conservative (moreso than some universities), but being a university, it has a degree liberalism to it. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being ultra left and 10 being ultra right, I'd put it at around 5.5.

Personally, I'm a Republicana and will be attending in the fall. If anything, I'd want it to be more conservative than it is.

Mmm, don't forget that Washington DC is a pretty liberal place - 96% voted for Kerry in the elections last November.

this is true, but the Georgetown campus is definitely NOT a representation or the general population of DC

I'm sorry, but to say Georgetown is conservative or even right of center (or anything besides liberal) is ridiculous . There is a joke there that says you can fit the entire Georgetown "College Republicans" group in a phone booth...in Gtown's "Red Square."

While it's more conservative than other campuses of its caliber, it's certainly liberal.
