Political Econ or Legal Studies at Berkeley?

I'm applying to Berkeley as back-up if I don't get into UCLA, but i contemplating over which major I should choose. I have all the requirements done for the Legal studies major, but I don't think it's a very flexible major. On the other hand, I have all of the pre-reqs done for Political econ except the language requirement. I don't know how heavily the look upon that, but the thing is I am already proficient in a modern language, but its not provided by UCB so I can't test out of it. So im really in a bind, I have no idea what to do, and its absolutely fustratiing because as we all know its UC Apps month...

Perhaps there are other recognized proficiency tests in the language; if so, you may want to contact the department to see if successfully doing such a test can fulfill the requirement.

Go with Legal Studies and then switch majors (if you so choose) when you get here. It’s my understanding that Legal Studies is also easier to get into. And yes, you can definitely switch majors once you get here because Berkeley admits you to L&S and not a specific major. :)
