Political science at Bowdoin

Can anyone tell me their experiences with the political science department? I’m told they have a very good department.

Well, this probably won't help, but it's the little experience I have with the political science program at Bowdoin:
I'm a Government major at Colby College, one of Bowdoin's two sister colleges, and I currently have a professor ,Cal MacKenzie, who graduated from Bowdoin, attended Harvard for Graduate School (JFK), and is very, very distinguished in his area of expertise: American Gov. He's a very smart guy who seams very well learned. So, maybe that helps?

heh,

cheers!

Drew

Does he teach at both schools?

i was a government major at bowdoin and thought it was a great department. excellent professors, and engaged students. government tends to enroll people with a diversity of interests. because of this there tend to be a couple "tracks" in the department, some being more difficult than others. the toughest professors in the government department at bowdoin are by far the best teachers i have had, and that continues to be true.

whatever your interest, the department is a good foundation. i never thought i would go to law school, but found myself here anyway, and at a top three school at that. i don't say this to boast, but to portray the preparation of the bowdoin government department. many of my friends in the department (or, i guess, from bowdoin generally) are in similar positions. some do policy in dc, and many do graduate work at the kennedy school.

dunno, it was just a really great place. i feel as if my education is on par with so many of my fellow students many of whom went to HYPS.

The gov department is very strong here, but they are currently in the midst of a mini crisis, mostly because the word got around. Too many kids are becoming gov majors and taking gov classes than there are professors to teach them, though the college is actively hiring professors (3 of the 12 new professorships that the college is in the process of filling will go to the gov department) and trying to temporarily limit leave time for those currently hired to alleviate the crunch.

Wouldn't these five professors will be back this Fall?

the london school of economics rated bowdoin's political science department as the best in the united states...

I searched and found the headline but couldn't find the article. Does anyone have the link for the full story. Thanks.

Also how do they compare to the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts?
