I'm a prospective student (high-school Senior) applying tentatively as a Political Science major. I wanted to see if anyone had anything to say on the differences between the various subdivisions of the PoliSci major (Public Law, Public Policy, Political Theory, etc..).

As an American politics major I can tell you there are differences. You can find all the requirements on the Political Science website. All course require you to take 3 classes from poli 10,11,12,13 and political statistics poli 30 and then 5 upper divs that correspond with your specialization. Then the rest of your upper divs are political science electives. If you are poli general then you can take any class you want- there is so much freedom with the polisci program at ucsd. hope this helped
