Okay for the past few weeks I have been stressing with the classes to take and what not for my major.

I searched the forums today, and found people with 3.0-4.0 getting accepted in to Cal/UCLA. Now I love history, current events, brewing conflicts, so me being interested is covered. The workload and what classes I should be taking is the thing that's concerns me.

I am following IGETC and covering my prerequisites.

Anybody have tips/advice? I screwed up in high school, so this is probably my last chance to get into a decent college.

Anyone in Ohlone College? I think I'm going to attend other CC in the area.

Make sure you take a good mix of IGETC courses and prereqs each semester. There are some unpredictable admits to Cal/UCLA, so your safest best if you want to get into either of these schools is to shoot for a 3.7+ and possibly try to do something (clubs, volunteering, etc.) related to your major.

Also, meet with the Berkeley rep when she comes to Ohlone and make sure you have a good counselor that will give you accurate info. Some of the less experienced counselors have given me mixed info (esp when it comes to AP scores).

Ah boo, I guess I'll take another art class to cover for the guitar class. I always wanted to play the guitar, I guess when I'm all situated with college I'll take it later.

Yea the Pol Sci program of both Cal and UCLA are next to each other, according to some ranking I read.

lol, what do you mean ohlone is not the best environment? you have hella smart msj kids there that push you to achieve more because they are just so freaking smart...and to top that, the campus is hella nice for a cc AND it's on top of a hill. lol

i dont think the location of your CC factors into your admission. a friend of mine went to ohlone and got into cal and berk for poli sci with a 3.7 (the average grade). i think it's more of how determined you are.

oh and while i'm at it since the title of this discussion is Political Science Major, what are you guys doing for the assist.org portion of POL SCI 30 Politics and Strategy. It says No Course Articulated at almost every cc in the Bay Area. Are we going to get hurt for not completing that prereq?

In my experience so far, Ohlone has not been the best environment. The student body is probably the most disappointing, especially for group projects and class discussions. Getting good grades kinda makes you feel guilty when other people are struggling or have bad attitudes towards learning. Other than that, the professors are awesome.

If you do transfer out of Ohlone, it's not that bad. Apparently Ohlone transfers maintain about the same GPA except at Chico. We have a decent transfer rate too, so I hear.

It's okay if you don't finish the prereq. They won't hold it against you (supposedly).

I think during the summer, or actually next summer I'm going to attend De Anza.

I really do hope what newyear will affect me because I think Ohlone is pretty nice except for the fact that it gets extremely hot. Fremont hills is basically the south bay anyways.
