Here are the schools I am considering:
Washington in St. Louis
Harvard
Yale
Georgetown
George Mason
George Washington
Hillsdale
Besides the obvious prestige of some of these over others, which actually have the best opportunities for US poli sci? And I haven't considered American very much. Is that a mistake?
Thanks so much for the help in advance!

why not add American University? I think it’s a mistake to consider Georgetown and GWU but not consider American. Besides, it’s easier to get into American than the previous 2 so it can be a safety school.

My biggest concern is the time factor. I also have two local colleges that I’ll apply to, more so because they’re local. Their poli sci programs are decent but nothing exceptional. I’m doing a college tour in two weeks, but I’m already short on time to hit those 7! I don’t know how to squeeze in one more!

Your best options are Harvard Yale and Georgetown. I know someone who will be attending Hillsdale, seems like a nice school but much smaller than all on the list and unsure of their political science program. If your looking for more lacs in Michigan try Kalamazoo College, it once caught my interest.

American would not be a mistake, I would suggest it also with the three I mention above.

Do not confuse Political Science with International Relations. Georgetown’s strength is International Relations, not so much Political Science. Although Georgetown has a good Political Science Department, there are several other, significantly better, Political Science departments, such as:

Cornell University
Duke University
Emory University
Harvard University
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
New York University
Northwestern University
Princeton University
Stanford University
University of California-Berkeley
University of California-Los Angeles

University of Chicago
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill
University of Rochester
