could I give 0.7 to Obama and 0.3 to McCain? because I am really, really stuck.

Cervantes, its called a coalition government, and it works most of the time.

Does it? From what I've read in the news, the coalitions seem to squabble a lot within themselves. Sometimes the ideologies are just too different, or the egos too big.

Obama.

McCain: 6
Obama: 10

these are some damn liberal forums.

I think we vote based on the core issues of each party and not the peripheral ones which is good.

[/quote]

The thing is we don't vote on core issues, but on the peripheral ones. A core issue would be the dealing with the budget deficit, overall national security, or how to fix the civil liberties problems this nation is facing. Instead we only focus on the peripheral of these core issues by squabbaling over issues on abortion and the "War on Terror" without addressing overal civil liberties issues such as privacy infringement and the right to a fair trail. Worst of all this nation has become blind to overal security from terrorists prevention, emergacy response, and to natural diasater relief thinking national security deals with a pointless war. And niether side is willing to even adress the debt and deficit issuse. The reason for the lac kof debate on all three of the listed core issues is because both parties believe in the same thing. I see no differeance below the surface between these two parties making Democrats and Republicans equally incompetant to run the nation.

I plan to vote Libertarian because at the moment all the nation is doing is squabbling over pheripheral issues that do not apply in the long run.

You want to address the debt issues?

Back on topic!
McCain: 6
Obama: 11

Which is why out of Obama v. McCain I would rather have a McCain victory. Although he is not what I want on the other two issues I brought up, but niether is Obama.

very nicely said stargatesg-1.

I'm don't follow you stargate...

But...

National Security- We haven't had another security attack since 9-11.

Civil Liberty- So what if the government knows you watch porn? Or do whatever? Just because they know doesn't mean the public should. What do you want to hide from the government? If rules are in place that the government knows your stuff but can't publicize it in egregious anners, as it would be a constitutional amendment or something, who cares? Be safe.

Tell me about the fair trial thing. I think we have a fair system.

It's a shame when people throw their vote away. Can't live in Utopia man, move on to McCain.

pug your so blind.

Its simple, some people can see the big picture, other cant and they vote for the two main parties. They remain blind and then use their ignorance and stupidity as a excuse.

Its a shame, most don't see the big picture and pug you have no idea what the big picture is, the same goes for people who will vote McCain || Obama.

If we must spoon feed it to you, then we will.

Because British intelligence stopped it.

This is all good if the government has a warrant. If they don't, they can spy on anyone, at any time, for any reason, including political ones. A vote for McCain is a vote for a constant state of Watergate.

Some people are retarded. There are like 4 others threads in at least 3 forums to talk about this. The point of this thread is a simple poll! I wouldn't expect a group of such smart people to be so stupid and uncivil.

^^ Unleash your fury !!!!

For the fair trails I was talking about Gitmo prisoners.

And the Katrina thing I know everyone is to blame, but if a disaster were to happen else where natural or terrorism would we be ready to respond and in most cases the answer is no.

LogicWarrior and Dr. Horse covered the rest.

And I don't want Utopia, I understnad there are limitations all I want is at least someone willing to debate these issues. And I don't think I would waste my vote, but my vote would be an attempt to tell the major parties they are not the only ones and that some people want change. But I do understand where you are coming from and respect your opinion I just don't agree with it.

Haha! Will do.

Anything other than a 2 party system will never work in our country. I like America as it is.

Gitmo, personal freedom, privacy, the "right" to guns, that stuff is all good, but the #1 job our nation has to us is to protect us.

see pug its the Leviathan theory that you fall for, just as fascist leaders planned it. Protection doesn't mean you need to be interventionists, spread democracy, invoke terror, have Prison systems outside of law, suspend the rule of law, give up any liberties for temp safety, etc.

Ive always said I find Fascism to be Beautiful. I find it amazing how a simple 10 or so step plan can brainwash so many humans, by exploiting their own emotions and needs for safety. Its almost a science on how well it works and how well the majority accepts it.

Main quote by Franklin

"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

alternatives

"They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
"Those Who Sacrifice Liberty For Security Deserve Neither."
"He who would trade liberty for some temporary security, deserves neither liberty nor security."
"He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither."
"People willing to trade their freedom for temporary security deserve neither and will lose both."
"If we restrict liberty to attain security we will lose them both."
"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both."
"He who gives up freedom for safety deserves neither."
"Those who would trade in their freedom for their protection deserve neither."

Well, those aspects are really in the abstract. Our nation could become fascists but we have liberals to stop that, just as our nation could become socialists but we have the conservatives to stop that. Really the two party system is probably the best system, bc there is balance. Too many parties would result in incapability to accomplish anything, but with two there is some aspect that things can be accomplished with the compromise of a few senators or house leaders.
In reality neither party is entirely right or wrong, and the undulation of power in American politics keeps America a centrist country and a good country.
