Poll: New Standard of Perfection- 2250 or 2300?

Is a 1500 on old SAT = to 2250 on New SAT, or 2300?
Just state what you think it is, 2250 or 2300.

only considering simple arithmetic 2250 2250/1.5=1500
However, can't say anything before the scores and the curve come out.

2250... heck I think colleges may even consider it 2200

At most 2250...

Fatigue will certainly factor in, though, so maybe even a little bit closer to 2200 (2230 or so?). We'll have to compare the percentiles...

If my calculations are correct, then a 2250 is almost mathematically equivalent to a 1500.

Almost mathematically equivalent? It's exact.

I'd say the standard is now 2300... It just sounds better :P

LOL... I think it should stay at 1500...

:)

Who cares...just do your best...thats all you can ask!

It's hard to say, because for some, the WR section will hurt them, while for others, it will be a big boost. A person who got a 1500 by virtue of their incredible math skills may get a lousier score than someone who got a 1450 by virtue of their math-verbal balance.

I really hope the new big standard is 2250, because then my math mark doesn't have to improve all that much for me to surpass it.

I think it should be 2250 cause (this is just what I think) 2250 is what, or is closest to, what most of the National Merit cutoffs are... Shouldn't the two be kinda linked?

:)

i think there should be an added math section* open ended... to balance out the essay and such :)

Open ended?

haha. if that were the case, it would be like...take the test in March, get your results back by next October...

i agree with 2250 though. actually 2230 sounds good. 2200 sounds good. in fact, the lower the standards, the better for me.

I think it will be 2200+ just because of fatigue and harder sections

i'd say 2200-2230 for 1500 and prolly 2300+ for around a 1550. this sounds fair cuz it takes fatigue into account i think

I think most colleges might just be smart enough to seperate the Writing score and consider the two parts, just as they did before.

Then why change the SAT at all? All this hubbub about the new writing section, and it's looked at the same as before? I doubt it.

Pretty much, in my opinion—at least as far as most of the established schools used to receiving those exams in the first place are concerned.

The only foreseeable change I would point to is the fact that now everyone will have to take the writing portion, even those who given the prior exam would not have taken the SAT II Writing. For many, however, this does not apply.

I don't see why all schools couldn't just require the writing SAT2 then

I thought all schools did, at least before the new SAT.
