Poll (no debate) - do you approve of President Bush?

First of all, he's committed war crimes by using false pretenses and torture (Against the American constitution), taken executive order too far, doesn't listen to people around him, and uses nepotism by hiring friends to be in his political and business circle and not listening to others' advice.

1) The constitution only applies to American citizens....

2) Hires friends to be in his political circle? Like every other President we've ever had??

sorry i took it as nuetral meaning indifferent

I find it exceedingly ignorant to assume that people who are against the president's policies are doing so out of hear-say, rather than through personal investigation, thought, and conclusion. Funny, political analysts who've gone to graduate school in political science and who are extremely aware in politics will often come to the same conclusions that many on this board will -- it simply takes an examination of the facts and a strong sense of logic. I feel I fall under that.

And hell, if people relied so much on hear-say, Bush's approval rates would be much higher. (If you've heard it once, you've heard it a thousand times -- the majority of the media leaves out the not-so-favorable bits quite often.)

So, getting off my soapbox, I'll add:

yes: 14
no: 29
neutral: 3

(I'm sure you didn't see that coming.)

About the southern stereotype: (that I didn't make). I support it 100% in my experience. My whole fam is from NJ, and my aunt and uncle (and 2 young kids) just moved to Charleston S.C.

In "the north", you don't see people flying confederate flags (i consider myself very knowledgeable about the civil war, and i understand what it was about), but the war is over. These people, at the same time, put support our troops on the back of their cars, and often a BUSH sticker (or some combination of the bunch). Now, you want to succeed from this "great" country, but you adamantly support the troops (and often the president).

In the south, race is STILL an issue, especially compared to the north. I mean, theres a big committee in chaleston to fly the confederate flag at the town hall below the american one. The confederate flag belongs in a museum, NOT UNDER CITY HALL. Black people live on one side of town, rich whites on another, poor whites on the third. Again, this is near a somewhat substantial city. In NJ, towns (esp. that of mid class) are very racially mixed.

Now, many southerners are great people, have great morals, are progressive etc. But a small (but noticeable, atleast in my experience) % of the people fit that redneck stereotype all too well.

This isn't to say "northerners" DONT have issues/stereotypes of their own (i believe most stereotypes stem from some truth), or are in ANY WAY SUPERIOR, it is just point out that a decent sized group of people in the south are still stuck in the 1800's.
