Poly NYU vs Rose Hulman vs UVA

Ok so here is the thin, I would like to major in electrical engineering with a slight dose of finances or management. My options are basically those three schools.

Poly NYU
Rose-Hulman
UVA.

Based on the fact that I am currently in NY and would have any problem to move on another states , I need your opinion on those school because I am a little bit of bewildered. I am international. I plan to enter a graduate school also right after my B.S. Thanks a lot for the advices.

bump…bumpy guyz I need help.

Well anyone willing to help me decide?

think poly is a good choice for a number of reasons. First, many NY based companies are aware of this institute. Alumni are generally found at the career fair and they know what we are going through. It becomes an essential networking area.

Another thing I like about it is the fact that students are all aligned towards studying and someone is always aware of something relevant to his major. My friend told me about scholarships that were even posted on FastWeb and Scholarship.

There is no partying here. There are no girls here. This is a very important factor for some people but unfortunately you will have to find a way to enjoy talking about discount courses during summers in your major.

NYU is spending money. They painted all the poly buildings and are investing more in research projects. At sophomore level, you can even apply for those research positions. I am a teaching assistant there as well.

You can transfer to Stern if you dont like engineering. Its probably easier to go from within the university system.

This is What I got from NYU-poly admission committee.

When NYU-poly will be a true part(engineering school) of NYU? Answer: in a couple of years

How the diploma look like? Is NYU seal on NYU-poly diploma? Answer: The current degree reads “ Polytechnic Institute of New York University” and it will always read that, even when we are officially one of the 14 schools of NYU.

i2etm invention to entrepreneurship

I would opt for VA.

BUT HEY, Poly NYU before Rose-Hulman? It is possible but I doubt that an employer will automatically take the poly guy, knowing the true value of Rose.

Guys it seems like the time is not really changing anything in my decision, I already visited NYU Poly, there is no social life even though I can cope with it. But Rose-Hulman is also a good school and I dont wanna regret my choice for my undergrad. I am international and prestige seems to matter much more for us. So help Rose- or NYU polY?

In my opinion, Rose-Hulman. It has a stronger reputation in engineering.

The problem is that since I am in NYU now, it is difficult to see how known they are for their engineering prog, I m talking about Rose.
Then, it is probably because I am in the Poly NYU area and that if I was somewhere in the midwst, they would probably say Rose.

I wanna attend MIT , Stanford or Columbia or Cornell as a grad school so is it important where I will end up for undergrad?

^ no, what matters is what you make of yourself when you’re an undergrad. not where you go for undergrad.
