@doolalal yup
@soitsybitsy Have you gotten Q1 grade requests yet? Also, what are your stats
Good luck to everyone!
@doolalal No, I don’t think I have, unless my counselor already sent it without telling me. I would like to not disclose my stats right now, sorry
Hello! Current student here! I just wanted to pop in and say good luck we’re all really excited for you guys! But on the flip side, whether you get in here or not, college is 100% what you make of it, and no particular school is going to be the factor that makes or breaks your dream college experience.
@goingsomewhereeh thanks man, needed that
Ditto: even as this impending moment seems like a lot, it’s just one step in your journey. Maybe it’s a pebble. You’re going to be absolutely fine, and if the journey gets a little bit longer right now, that’s just more adventure as you figure out what’s next for you.
You’re gonna fly, no matter what.
(Take it from me. I’m flightless.)
Not out yet?
Rejected .
haha rejected… BIG RIP
Rejected…
No surprise…
International applicants can never get in with a 1490 SAT…So bye…
It’s ok tho, I still have Berkeley.
Deferred. Could be worse. Regular gonna’s be a torture and I don’t even know how I’m going to improve my app.
@soitsybitsy best of luck to you, hope you can get in
My D accepted.
@soitsybitsy (and others who were deferred): During info sessions, Pomona AOs have said that they do not like to “string students along,” so they do not defer very many during ED. They would often like to see how a student continues to progress through their senior year, both in and out of class. There is a regularly posting parent whose kid was admitted after a deferral who might offer their kid’s strategy, but basically it reflects the advice on Pomona’s Admission Decision FAQs to stay in touch with your AO:
“If you have been deferred, we encourage you to submit any new testing (SAT, ACT or SAT Subject Tests) and ensure that we have your mid-term grade reports. Although it is not required, you are also welcome to submit additional materials (for example, an art, music or dance supplement; an additional recommendation; or a personal communication with your admission officer.”
Yes, you may apply ED2 to another college. FWIW, only one of my kids was admitted ED1 to their first choice, but all of them had and are having amazing college experiences elsewhere!
@otisp Thank you so much for the response. I think I’ll try and see. I debating if I want to take another SAT, my score’s like in the mid 65% of last year’s class according to Pomona’s CDS last year.
Or add like recommendation letters
deferred
Just a quick comment for those wondering about test scores. A couple of years ago an AO was heard to say at an alumni event that they reject about the same number of students with perfect scores that they admit, so it’s not all about numbers. If you’ve been deferred, advice you’ll see from colleges similar to Pomona include: keeping/bringing your grades up the rest of this year, and continuing/increasing involvement in your ECs (particularly those you might have just started this past year or so).
The post by golfcashoahu (who was deferred and later accepted 3 years ago) in this thread has good advice on how to handle a Pomona deferral http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/pomona-college/1944072-early-decision-i-deferral.html
